Multi-agency goverment departments and multi-school school systems are two examples of enterprises that often have a single domain for email across the enterprise, and a different domain as the common root of URLs for each child entity (agency or school is treated as a Company within HubSpot to organize associated contacts, deals, and billing details). So we have: Department -> Agency and School System -> School as the parent company and child company but additional levels are easily possible. These child companies tend to have websites with one or more levels of subdomains prepended on the enterprise domain. The 'Fill company properties using HubSpot Insights database' feature ignores the subdomain and claims to find a matching company (which seems to always be the initial company we added that has a matching domain). If we attempt to ignore the match and 'Create New' then the properties form is shown with default values from that ignored match. This results in many of our newly added agencies and school inheriting the incorrect state and city (yes our people need to be more careful when adding companies). Support has provided the 'solution' of disabling Insights database. But it saves us time and creates a more complete company record when it does work. They suggest I post an 'idea' here. My 'idea' is that HubSpot handling of subdomains is buggy. HubSpot's autofilling Company Properties after we select Create New to ignore a supposed company match is another bug. I think it would be a great idea to have better solution than just turning off the Insights Database.
