Hi team, Filing on behalf of a customer:
At the moment, Automatic phone number formatting has been delivered as per this feature request here: https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/Automatic-Phone-Number-Formatting/idi-p/34567 which while is a great feature, is something that follows a standard formatting for all numbers of a particular country code. This feature request would be specific to Australia, where the phone number formatting rules for Australia are correct for mobile phone numbers, but incorrect for landline numbers (numbers with area code 2,3,7 and 8). The correct formatting can be seen in the following: https://www.stylemanual.gov.au/grammar-punctuation-and-conventions/numbers-and-measurements/telephone-numbers
and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telephone_numbers_in_Australia Just to clarify as well, current behavior for incorrect formatting: +61 299 999 999 +61 399 999 999 +61 400 000 000 (mobile) +61 500 000 000 (mobile – future use) +61 799 999 999 +61 899 999 999 Expected behavior for correct formatting: +61 2 9999 9999 +61 3 9999 9999 +61 400 000 000 (mobile) +61 500 000 000 (mobile – future use) +61 7 9999 9999 +61 8 9999 9999
At the moment, the workaround to have the numbers display as the correct formatting above would be to not Apply automatic number formatting, however this defeats the purpose of having automatic number formatting. That said, we hope to improve the automatic number formatting feature based on the above use case 🙂 Thanks in advance!
