When importing contacts into HubSpot, there's currently no way to append values to a "multiple checkboxes" property without overwriting what’s already there. This is a big challenge for users who want to update checkbox fields without losing existing data. For example, let’s say you have a custom property called “Interests” with multiple checkbox options like “Product A,” “Product B,” “Newsletter Subscriber,” and “Event Attendee.” Some contacts already have values checked like “Product A” and “Newsletter Subscriber.” If you import a new list of event attendees and include “Event Attendee” in the Interests field, HubSpot will replace the existing values with only the new value from the import—deleting the original data. To solve this, I propose that HubSpot adds an “Append values” option for multiple checkbox properties during the import process. This setting would allow imported values to be added to existing ones, rather than replacing them. It would also prevent duplicates, ensuring the field stays clean and accurate. This feature would help preserve important information, improve segmentation, and save users from having to use workarounds like manual exports, merges, or custom workflows just to maintain existing property data. It would also give users more control and flexibility when managing contacts at scale. Would love to hear how others handle this situation currently, and if you’d find this kind of enhancement useful!
