I was shocked to read this blog post: Which Social Media Channels See the Most ROI? [New Data + Expert Tips] (hubspot.com) that gave no context as to who were the marketers who took the survey. "Over 40% of marketers cited Facebook as the most effective channel for their businesses, followed by the roughly 30% who saw the highest ROI from Instagram, which is another Facebook-owned social platform. By comparison, the other social channels in the list — including LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, and Snapchat — all ranked much lower, with less than 10% citing each platform as the best channel for ROI." I didn't see anywhere in the blog post that the majority of people who responded to the survey are B2C. And I don't think I saw in the report whether the respondents work for an agency or company. This can be completely misleading and crushing to some people... please let me explain. I am a B2B marketer at a company (we're sometimes referred to as an in-house agency). LinkedIn is by far the best effective channel for our business, and it is very effective for B2B, who were represented by 36% of survey respondents. If my leadership saw the blog post, they would be questioning my credibility and our efforts. I kindly challenge you to keep that in mind when pulling stats out of the report for blog posts, videos, infographics, etc. Include that vital information from the research to support the findings.
