Hi there, I work for a B2B SaaS startup and we recently purchased HubSpot Marketing Enterprise for the purpose of utilizing the Events API and Segment integration with HubSpot in order to see our product usage in HubSpot. As a B2B company, we rely on seeing aggregated product usage data from multiple users at the account level. HubSpot's Timeline API can show events on the company record's activity feed and these events can also be utilized in company-based workflows as triggers. However, the Events API does not allow for this functionality. Like some B2B companies out there, we are using Segment as a tool to gather our app usage and push that data to other tools such as HubSpot, Mixpanel, etc. The Segment integration is built with the HubSpot Events API and it is impossible for us to utilize the Timeline API for the integration. Therefore, in order for us to see aggregated account data from our users in HubSpot, we'd have to get our engineering team (of 1!) to build out custom integrations via the Timeline API. Unfortunately, we don't have the resources to do this. It would be great if the Events API would offer the same flexibility and robust functionality as the Timeline API when it comes to seeing events on the company activity feed and being able to use events in company-based workflows. Given that HubSpot Enterprise boasts ABM features and that you have to pay for Enterprise in order to access the Events API, I was somewhat surprised to learn that we couldn't get this type of event information on accounts/companies. I hope that HubSpot considers building this functionality out in order to better serve companies with an ABM strategy and B2B SaaS companies that rely on account data, especially those of us that are small and lean.
