add notes to a list name

I'd like to have the ability to add a general note to the details of a list (under Contacts--Lists--Details). the note would include a link to the action a person took that qualifies them for this list (ie: signed this petition)

yes - for example, a "list" of companies you use for an overview and some company properties as columns.

It would be useful to add notes to each company for more flexible details on the company and properties.
