Why can't we see revenue tied to a CTA?

Calls-to-Actions (CTAs) in HubSpot seem like a great feature until you realize that you can't actually report on revenue specific to them. Revenue is a major component when analyzing the performance/success of anything, but especially if you want to test one CTA vs. another. Even trying to come up with a custom report based on a CTA misses the mark from a revenue standpoint. How can we generate a report that shows revenue from a CTA?

Sure, you can view clicks and views related to the CTA, but why are we leaving out the most important metric: Revenue?

Thank you.

Hi HubSpot Community

I'm Dom and I’m a Product Manager at HubSpot. I’m really interested in finding out how folks are currently using CTAs, what’s working, what’s not working and what new functionality you’d like to see in the future. Please DM me if you’re interested in sharing your feedback and jumping on a quick 30 min call with myself and the team.

Thanks,

@BSheck that's a great suggestion - my engineers are seeing if this is possible. We'll keep you posted!

That's correct - as an 'asset' (or content), we consider CTAs and Form names something that lives on another asset, which is why they're supported as interaction types that happen on an asset.

I've flagged this to your onboarding specialist for y'all to review, @BSheck!

Hi, @BSheck ! Thanks for this suggestion, I completely agree that it's important you can understand how much credit (revenue, deals created, or contacts created) CTAs had in driving the conversion you care about measuring.

One of the reasons CTAs aren't considered an asset/content for us is that they're often considered a 'sub-asset,' as they live on blog posts, landing pages, etc. To remedy this, we explicitly support clicking a CTA as an interaction type.

With that, I'm curious if the following dimensions and filters are able to help you understand the value of a given CTA click:

Thanks for the response, @dmastin. When I build an attribution report, using the parameters shown in your screenshot, CTA clicked does not show up under Interaction Type. See screenshot. I have my date range set to This Year, as we only launched HS on Feb 1. But we have used a few CTAs, so curious what I am missing in my report setup that is preventing the CTA clicks from showing up.

When I originally brought this issue up to my onboarding specialist, after I couldn't seem to find any revenue data tied to my CTAs, he also said that CTAs weren't really designed for revenue attribution, either, which is why I posted this Idea in the forum.

That being said, what I am doing wrong here?Screen Shot 2021-04-01 at 2.59.55 PM.png

Hey, @dmastin, how about instead of the HS CTA ID showing in this revenue drilldown, we could see the actual CTA name?
