I would really appreciate if it would also be possible for "View Only Seats" to connect their email with HubSpot. Logging and tracking emails is one fundamental thing which we need in our HubSpot portal and it was possible for all user until the migration to the new pricing model. Hope some others think the same way.
This is a necessary function for users who do not need a Core, Sales or Service Seat. COmpanies should not be penalized by having to purcahse a Core seat if it's not really necessary.
Hi all, this is not a change we plan to make. Logging and tracking emails writes data to your CRM and so inherently goes against the intent of a "View Only" seat that should not have that ability.
This change is not something we intend to implement. Since logging and tracking emails involves writing data to the CRM, it inherently conflicts with the purpose of a "View Only" seat, which is designed to restrict any data-writing capabilities.
This is extremly disappointing especially considering the sales person we worked with and his manager both told us view only seats should have access to connect their email accounts and log emails. If your own sales people and managers are unaware of this restriction how are we as customers able to make an informed purchase decision? If you're going to pull this primary functionality from our free users when we upgrade your own employees should at least know its happening and be able to communicate that information before we decide to upgrade. Additionally all of the documentation for the email integration says its available to all products and plans so I had every reason to believe all of the users in our system would be able to use this functionality: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/connected-email/connect-your-inbox-to-hubspot
We signed a 3 year contract based on incorrect information and as a long time hubspot user across several companies this action is a significant departure from the hubspot I've been a proponent of for many years now.
Reply data is extremely important to email marketing and from a B2B perspective, that might necessitate more than a handful of core/sales seats. We made a 3-year commitment with this capacity in mind and it's extremely disappointing for this option to be removed.
I think we all agree here that there needs to be an alternative available.
Hubspot is really dropping the ball here. Also with assiging way to little core-seats for active users.
It's a great scare your customer away. I guess after the end our contract we'll be switching our marketing to Salesforce instead. Hubspot makes no sense anymore pricewise.
This is very disappointing. We have a few employees who definitely do not warrant a paid seat fee, but we're needing to consider that (Finance, for instance, who literally only engage with HubSpot to log monthly invoice emails to customer records). I disagree that this use goes against the intent of a "View Only" seat - it doesn't even require them logging in to the application.
Hard agree. I specifically asked my sales rep if we could have a mix of free and core seats. He told me yes. I upgraded two of my team to core seats and now the rest of the team is completely **bleep**. "View only" is useless. As a small startup we have limited resouces including time. Now my time is being eaten up by trying to get Hubspot to rectifiy this situation, and my team's time is being taken up having to readjust to having no access, no email logging capabilities, and no function while we try to force Hubspot to fix their "misunderstanding" - I was very clear when I asked the question.
