Unsubscribe from all mail via workflow

We would love to unsubscribe contacts from all email via workflow.

Our Sales process makes use of workflows to consolidate common actions through scenarios.  For example, if a lead has decided that they are no longer interested and would like to be unsubscribed from our mailing lists as well, there are several things that we do:

- We assign a Lead Status of "Hard No"

- We unsubscribe them from all email

- We create a task to remove or disable their trial account.

- Etc.

The issue we have is that currently, you cannot unsubscribe someone from all emails via workflow -- only unsubscribe them from individual subscription types.  But what if we add a new subscription type in the future and send emails to everyone in our contacts list?  The contact who asked to be unsubscribed will receive the email for the new subscription type.  Definitely not what we want.

Being able to have complete confidence in the unsubscribe as part of a workflow would be very helpful.

Agreed! Many HubSpot customers use other tools integrated with the platform that help manage email opt-outs - so they come in sporadically, and need to be automated to ensure the requests are honored.

Adding multiple subscription types to a workflow is time-consuming, and it requires updating the workflow accordingly if subscription types are ever updated.

A global opt-out action makes sense here - especially given the improved capabilities of double opt-in and resubscription options. It would really fill a gap that exists right now in how efficient we can be at managing unsubscribe requests - leaving things up to manual work leaves too much room for error.

Same here.

When a contact has left a company, we don't delete the contact but would like to automatically opt them out from all emails through a workflow (enroll when lead status = Has left the company). We already use a workflow to unsubscribe them from all subscriptions.

We would also like to be able to automatically add a note with the workflow, which I don't understand why it is not possible in Hubspot...

Thanks.

Yes. Why can't can't we choose "unsub from all email" in workflows... there's a property for it...?

Please

We also really want this workflow capability. For example, when we get a notification that a contact no longer works at a company, we want to unsubscribe that email address from all emails of any sort going forward. We might change our subscriptions later and wouldn't want to have to worry about emails to contacts that we had previously unsubscribed.

Yes, good idea and need this.

I've been interested in this for many years and I'm surprised that it hasn't become a feature yet.

We JUST redesigned our email categories too to make a better user experience for our customers, so having this ability would be helpful without removing them in case they resubscribe and re-engage in the future.

I think this would be reaully useful! Like many other, we'd like to automatically unsibscribe people who leave companies without deleting them from the database alltogether.

Extremely surprised this isn't a feature yet, especially considering how sensitive we all should be to GDPR and contact consent nowadays... you'd think anything that makes it easier to NOT email someone accidentally would be top of the list.

Agreed! Our company is expanding into Europe so this is CRITICAL for dealing with GDPR. Although we don't add communication types willy-nilly, requiring them to be added one-at-a-time creates an unecessary, un-intuitive, hidden manual bottleneck to a robust opt-out process.

Hubspot already allows this if you manually click into a contact--it needs to be accessible via workflow.

Likewise, allowing write access to the "Unsubscribed from all Email" and "Opted out of email: [subscription type]" fields would enable this automated functionality from Salesforce and other integrations who can't view the Subscription Type object.

Additional to this, when using business units, there is a 'top level' subscription type which is read only and cannot be updated via a workflow. It would be good to be able to do this as well as the overall opt out.

Yes please!

We could really do with this, especially as we have 13 Business Units. If we want to create a workflow that opts someone out of every Business Unit, we would need to choose every subscription type in each Business Unit and then update it whenever a new one was created, which is not manageable.
