URL Shortener - Ability to write brand names like Jack.org without having them replaced by Hub link.

I have a client Jack.org. Their name is not "Jack".

But I can't use their name in social media posts within Hubspot because it gets published with the Hubspot shorted URL instead of their brand name.

How about a feature so that if I put square brackets around the name it preserves the name. Even if the link tracking is lost.

Thanks!

I understand the issues on tracking that a flexibilization can incur. I think that this should be an Advanced Settings to experienced users that understand what's happening behind the scene. Bit.ly is not the only player on URL shortening and very expensive for the service. I use another vendor and this setup blocks me completely from using the social tool on Hubspot.

You should try to reengineer your service :

  1. Increase the list of integrations
  2. Open APIs for click reports/pageviews, etc.

There absolutely needs to be an opt-out or escape character for link shortening. If this was requested in 2017, is it every going to happen?

Ideally, HubSpot would generate the parameterized URLs as metadata associated with a social post and allow customers to generate their own short URL (using their tool of choice) that points to it. This would preserve click tracking while giving clients total control over their social content.

Please put this on the roadmap ASAP!

Maybe there could be a allowlist of domains that don't get replaced by Hubspot.

If on the list = keep original

If not on the list = replace as already done today

This is long overdue and easy to implement, the delay is pretty transparent to your users.

@WillDekrey  - Any status update on this topic?

@WillDekrey one of our regions reported that bit.ly, our only other option to those ugly hub spot links, is blocked in Bangladesh. Having this feature is becoming a must in some regions where we have to be able to opt out of link shortners or we end up creating unsuable links that create horrible customer experiences. We get the arguement for simplicity, but the pursuit of simplicity should never prevent basic functionality. Really hoping Hubspot takes action on this soon.

Seriously would like to have the option to choose URL's. It seems like it is a common want and looks like its been asked for since 2017, maybe you all should push forward and give your customers the quality they want and need from this product. AUTO URL shortening is the WORST feature when we as business want people to click on links. Spammy links will cause our consumers to NOT click. Please fix.

Completely agree that there should be an option to opt in or out of the automated Hubspot shortened links. We have a lot of webpages within my company that need to be promoted fully but we are unable to do so as the Hubspot link gets in the way. Would really appreciate an update on this as it's been going on for a few years and there has been no solution around it so far.

It's especially helpful if we are just linking to our home page. Simplicity is always best, but our home page already has a very short URL, and we want to help our followers know at first-glance /exactly/ where this link is going

Hi product team,

Is any update on this topic?

Disabling of URL shortening is well needed. In certain scenarios, we do need the actual domain name to be printed on a post for branding/identity purpose, rather than shortened into a random looking, unrecognised link.

Appreciate your attention to look into this functionality to allow user to disable URL shortening when required!

Cheers!

One more vote for disabling Hubspot link shortening.

The lack of optionality is preventing us from using the social media management tool. Such a shame, it looks like a good tool.

Our company name is a domain name. It is a short (3 letter) with .ai at the end.

We DO NOT want all social posts to be the three letters, it's simply not our name. We now have to use another publishing tool.

Please give us a allowlist feature where we can add our own company name to be excluded from URL shortening.

Hi team! As a customer support specialist, it would be highly beneficial to see this feature implemented. Likewise, it would be helpful to get an update from the 2020 Being Reviewed. Thank you, team! 🙂

Has there been any traction on this suggestion? The link shortener hiding my company's url has been very frustrating to my team, and we are looking into changing our plan and finding another publishing tool.

We decided to create a brandname.design domain and use this in combination with bit.ly as a custom domain.

Works quite ok, main bummer is that linkedin shorts all links >26 characters and now all links are 27 🤣

So instead of hub.ly/324242 we get lnkd.in/12313 links...not our designers "name.design/3r4242 "

It is definitely frustrating when trying to maintain the brand identity when we want to say something along the lines of "visit svenandson.com today" and not having a junked-up URL.

Totally agree with this, needs to be some way to identify a URL that you want posted "AS IS" without being shortened!

This.  100% This.

There's nothing quite like typing a URL like https://toolbelt.work/request-a-demo, which has a nice human-readable approach, and have it get mangled into something like hub.li/298c2ae88.  That REALLY makes people want to click that link, y'know?

I get the need to shorten URL's to allow for tracking, but then fine, build a URL shortener and give us the ability to set up our own vanity URLs in hubspot.  Don't just say NO and leave us with a suboptimal solution.

We need this!!

it is not user friendly to always display urls with the help of the link shorter. I don't share links for nothing!
Notice that reach and clicks are clearly less when a hubsly is made of it. People don't know where they end up, so please add the possiibilty to choose the way its been shared. Thanks 🙂
