I understand the issues on tracking that a flexibilization can incur. I think that this should be an Advanced Settings to experienced users that understand what's happening behind the scene. Bit.ly is not the only player on URL shortening and very expensive for the service. I use another vendor and this setup blocks me completely from using the social tool on Hubspot.
There absolutely needs to be an opt-out or escape character for link shortening. If this was requested in 2017, is it every going to happen?
Ideally, HubSpot would generate the parameterized URLs as metadata associated with a social post and allow customers to generate their own short URL (using their tool of choice) that points to it. This would preserve click tracking while giving clients total control over their social content.
@WillDekrey one of our regions reported that bit.ly, our only other option to those ugly hub spot links, is blocked in Bangladesh. Having this feature is becoming a must in some regions where we have to be able to opt out of link shortners or we end up creating unsuable links that create horrible customer experiences. We get the arguement for simplicity, but the pursuit of simplicity should never prevent basic functionality. Really hoping Hubspot takes action on this soon.
Seriously would like to have the option to choose URL's. It seems like it is a common want and looks like its been asked for since 2017, maybe you all should push forward and give your customers the quality they want and need from this product. AUTO URL shortening is the WORST feature when we as business want people to click on links. Spammy links will cause our consumers to NOT click. Please fix.
Completely agree that there should be an option to opt in or out of the automated Hubspot shortened links. We have a lot of webpages within my company that need to be promoted fully but we are unable to do so as the Hubspot link gets in the way. Would really appreciate an update on this as it's been going on for a few years and there has been no solution around it so far.
It's especially helpful if we are just linking to our home page. Simplicity is always best, but our home page already has a very short URL, and we want to help our followers know at first-glance /exactly/ where this link is going
Disabling of URL shortening is well needed. In certain scenarios, we do need the actual domain name to be printed on a post for branding/identity purpose, rather than shortened into a random looking, unrecognised link.
Appreciate your attention to look into this functionality to allow user to disable URL shortening when required!
Hi team! As a customer support specialist, it would be highly beneficial to see this feature implemented. Likewise, it would be helpful to get an update from the 2020 Being Reviewed. Thank you, team! 🙂
Has there been any traction on this suggestion? The link shortener hiding my company's url has been very frustrating to my team, and we are looking into changing our plan and finding another publishing tool.
It is definitely frustrating when trying to maintain the brand identity when we want to say something along the lines of "visit svenandson.com today" and not having a junked-up URL.
There's nothing quite like typing a URL like https://toolbelt.work/request-a-demo, which has a nice human-readable approach, and have it get mangled into something like hub.li/298c2ae88. That REALLY makes people want to click that link, y'know?
I get the need to shorten URL's to allow for tracking, but then fine, build a URL shortener and give us the ability to set up our own vanity URLs in hubspot. Don't just say NO and leave us with a suboptimal solution.
it is not user friendly to always display urls with the help of the link shorter. I don't share links for nothing! Notice that reach and clicks are clearly less when a hubsly is made of it. People don't know where they end up, so please add the possiibilty to choose the way its been shared. Thanks 🙂
