Thunderbird Sales Extension plugin

In my company some of our employees are using the Thunderbird Email as Outlook is not available to us. The Outlook Sales Extension offers great value in terms of productivity, so it would be great if you would develop it as a plugin for Mozilla Thunderbird as well.

I would need it too for my company. The "New Outlook" really doesn't keep their promises, it keeps having big problems (such as... not receiving emails ?!? and various add-ons that use to work in the older version now are simply not available anymore) so we need to find other options. Thunderbird has always been practical and efficient, so having hubspot integrated would really be a great help.

Build it, 100% needed, Outlok is horrible

Hi everybody,

I'm gonna see if I can develop this Thunderbird add-on by myself and the time needed to do it.

What features would you like to have in this plugin? If you suggest several ones, can you rank them in order of importance please?

It's not a promise: I want to see what is possible... 😉

Thanks.

@sylvain_tirreau

I think the most important feature is the inclusion of the tracking pixel in an email created in Thunderbird.

Another important feature would be the facility to select HubSpot templates and Hubspot snippets in the emails.

That's probably all I would use, but there maybe other features, such as linking calendars (ie scheduling meetings, etc).

I suppose, it would be worth looking at the functionality of the Outlook Add-in and trying to replicate all that functionality.

I found the image below online for reference.

From what I see in Outlook, default BCC to the BCC mail address corresponding to your account (looking like 1234567@bcc.hubspot.com, to be defined in the prefs of the extension) is the minimal must.

I'd like to have the BCC prefilled for any mail sent from a predefined email address (and absent for any mail sent from any other address). This will allow a correct logging of the mails in HS, without cluttering the customer DB with unrelated addresses.

That's the minimum for me.

A good thing would also be to be able to pickup any HS template directly from Thunderbird, but I guess that's more difficult to do…

I think the tracking pixel is the most important thing.

Also, the inclusion of the templates and the snippets.

Generally speaking, it would be good to include everything that is included in the Outlook add-in.

Hope this makes sense.

Indeed, the tracking pixel is the most important thing. Thanks!

The BCC address is easily solved, as you can add this in your Thunderbird account settings. You don't need an extension for this.

@sylvain_tirreau Well this is exciting!  I say start with the minimum vaible product and we can give you feedback from there.

1. Tracking Pixel

2. BCC address

3. Fwd Address

Then we can test and go from there.

Hello,

Thanks for your replies.

After doing some research it is not possible to do that kind of extension because there are no public APIs to do the most important things (tracking email, get snippets, etc.). The Gmail and Outlook extensions works with particular and private endpoints and mechanisms, and this plusgin can be done only by Hubspot. 😞

The only thing that it is possible to do with current public APIs is to display the contact's Hubspot card in a Thunderbird box. But that's all.

Regards.

Indeed ! I forgot this was possible. I added the line solely for the
HS-related account 🙂

@sylvain_tirreau - I suppose this is why we're having this discussion on the HubSpot Community and not on a Thunderbird forum or some other discussion forum. HubSpot need to pick this request up and start developing. Is it worth doing? I think it is. Just look at the number of people who have supported this request and how long it has been going. What needs to happen so HubSpot pick this up?

Looking forward to this also.

It just doesn't work. There either needs to be an extension.
