Currently, HubSpot allows us to create permission sets and assign them to individual users. However, as organizations grow, managing permissions for each user becomes time-consuming and prone to errors. I propose implementing team-based permission sets to streamline this process.
Key Benefits:
Time-saving: Admins can set permissions once for an entire team rather than individually.
Consistency: Ensures all team members have the appropriate access levels.
Scalability: Easily onboard new team members with pre-set permissions.
Flexibility: Allows for quick adjustments to team-wide permissions as roles evolve.
Proposed Functionality:
Create permission sets at the team level
Automatically apply team permission sets to new team members
Option to override team permissions for specific individuals if needed
Ability to view and manage permissions at both team and individual levels
This feature would significantly enhance HubSpot's user management capabilities, especially for larger organizations with multiple teams and frequent onboarding.
I believe this addition would greatly improve efficiency and security in permission management across the platform.
It would be great if this could be implemented in Hubspot, especially when you have hierarchical teams with sales managers and sales consultants where access levels vary and you have in-house and off-site marketing teams.
Hey folks - thanks so much for suggesting this idea. We're discussing this currently and I wanted to clarify that what you have in mind is that as a user gets added to a team, a certain permission set gets applied. Is that right? Would love to pick your brain on the implementation approach we may take here so let me know if you're interested in chatting more.
Hi Adriane, just wanted to check if you are suggesting this idea for an enterprise level account or another tier.
At enterprise level, preset permissions on a team level do exist. Like with a lot of Hubspot functionality, I believe they've bumped this functionality up from being available at more tiers in years gone by to now being enterprise-only.
I think this is completely ludicrous and bad judgement on Hubspot's part. In 2025 when security and protecting customer information is supposed to be more imperative than ever, making this purposefully perilous for any tier but enterprise is terrible customer experience.
