Task Queues Should Allow More Control When Choosing The Record Type to Display

JMay59

Task Queues are really important to my team. Their tasks are all made by a custom object workflow which also places the tasks into a queue. When viewing the tasks in the queue it is helpful for my team to also see any other associated records like the contact, company, or deal.

Unfortunately, a problem arises from the task being associated with other objects. When completing a task in our queue and clicking next, it automatically shifts the team from the custom object record to the contact record.

The movement from a custom object record to a contact record is very jarring for my team. It also requires me to train them on record types in hubspot that are not applicable to them. It is also inconvenient to be moved to another record type when the information you need is kept in the type of record you were previously viewing.

The only way around this is to only associate the task with the custom object record but then we lose much of the convenience of being able to see at a glance the other associated records.

There are multiple changes that could address this:

  • If a task is made while specifically viewing an object record like the deal then the deal record or whichever record was being viewed when the task was made should be the highest priority record.
  • Add functionality so that I can decide which record type is the most important to display when working in a queue. It makes no sense that the contact record should take priority over the custom object record. The custom object was made for my company and my team. We pay a lot of money to be able to even make them. It should not play second fiddle to other record types.
  • Make it so if im in a deal record and I click next task in my queue it keeps me in whatever record type I was previously using. For example if I am looking at a deal when I complete a task and hit next, if the task has an associated deal, I should be taken to the deal record not the contacts.

Agreed- We would like each user to be able to prioritise what object is opened when they start their tasks- For all Sales Teams they would priorities the Deal- Contact then Company but in the research department they would proritise Company-Contact- Deal

Without being able to do this we have had to only create tasks associated to the deal and leave off contacts then create timezone task queues as we cant see the information about timezone associated to the task anymore because the contact info is not pulling through.

Surely this is a quick fix for hubspot

Couldn't agree more, we have a workflow creating tasks on the company level for our team to do outreach, but when they go to start a task queue, it is taking them to the contact records where none of their information/notes are. It would be great if task queues could recognize the task was created on a company record, so it should display company records for our team as they go through a task queue. Instead, my team has to go to the task list, add associated company as a column and then ctrl+click on the company record to open a new tab to resolve the task, then go back to their original tab to get the next one. It's not very efficient or as user friendly as it could be. This feels like a quick fix with huge win potential for Hs customers! Please launch this soon!
