Currently within Line Items & quotes, we have the ability to set terms and custom billing start dates, however, when we do so the calculation to monthly subtotal and MRR compounds the line items regardless of billing start date.
With the products we offer, many have a trial / UAT phase at a lower price point for the first 3 months before the client moves into full useage & pricing for a further 12 month terms.
With the monthly subtotal/MRR values not taking into account the billing start date, this means that either our sales reps or our ops teams need to ensure that they issue two quotes before a contract is signed, adjust the line items accordingly to only those active products at initial contract start and then ensure we set a task / reminder at the next time line segment (in this example, 3 months time) to then re-adjust the line items to ensure smooth revenue reporting.
This is a large double up of work and leaves us either not being able to accurately quote customers or not having reliable revenue reporting without the double handling.
The ask here is that the monthly subtotal & MRR calculation properties take into account custom billing start dates to smooth these aspects out.
