AVIF images can be uploaded to the Hubspot CMS but don't appear when searching for images. Please fully support uploading and using AVIF images in the Hubspot CMS.
AVIF is supported in all of the major browsers and has been gaining popularity since Google added it as a supported file format for Google Image search.
AVIF file format offers:
Excellent lossy compression compared to JPG and PNG for visually similar compression levels (e.g. lossy AVIF images are around 50% smaller than JPEG images).
Generally, AVIF has better compression than WebP — median 50% vs. 30% compression for the same JPG set (source:AVIF WebP Comparison(CTRL Blog)).
Lossless compression.
Animation/multi-image storage (similar to animated GIFs, but with much better compression)
Alpha channel support (i.e. for transparency).
High Dynamic Range(HDR): support for storing images that can represent bigger contrasts between the lightest and darkest parts of the image.
Wide Color Gamut: Support for images that can contain a larger range of colors.
I also would like to appeal to you to fully integrate the AVIF format into the HubSpot CMS as soon as possible. You are already leading the way with your SEO tips, and I rely heavily on HubSpot as a CMS. Therefore, I strongly wish for support of the most modern file formats.
Since AVIF has been supported by all major browsers, iPhone, and Android for some time now, I see no reason not to work with it.
Let's be pioneers together!
All the best, Dani
