Sort dropdown's options in forms

Migrated from legacy feedback forum with 16 votes.

Hi,

We are using dropdown type for the "country" field in all of our forms to match with our CRM values, and we have to use it in multiple languages (french, english, spanish, portuguese, russian). Basically, we modified the HubSpot country field to be a dropdown and added our own label and values in english. Then, we translate the labels in each languages when adding the field to our forms.

The problem is that we cannot sort each value to match with each country alphabetical order, and that's where things are becoming messy when a contact is trying to find it's own country in the dropdown list.

Idea : add a sorting option in the property option when we are on the form editing screen. The attached screen show that it's currently not possible.

Thank you,

Alexis

Is there any update on this?

Actually can we, instead of having to edit manually each language, see multi-lingual support for default Hubspot property fields like Country so that you can choose what language you would like to apply to a form and it pre-populates placeholders (e.g. -Please Select-) and other standar info in that language? Then since these are editable fields we can still change that, but it should mean that on a tool level you are able to do some kind of automatic sort in alfabetical order depending on what language is chosen for the form.

I assume some kind of multi-lingual support for forms already exists since you can now choose what language you would like the error message to appear in the COS page editor for forms modules.

Thanks!

Alphabetical sorting of properties labels, for each language would indeed greatly enhance our user experiences. Right now we are forced to keep our country lists in English, and unsorted translated labels are confusing our prospects. Thanks a lot for your help with this feature!

@VeroniqueMalan We've actually created new property fields for each language (we only have 3 at the moment) because we consider the user experience on our site and conversion forms more important than our own administrative ease.

Instead of using the default Country property field in non-English forms, we have created our own "Country in French", for example, and then load an alphabetical list of country names in French as the dropdown options for that property. This is easy to do because you just copy an enitre alphabetical list (from the web or an Excel) and Hubspot will automatically separate each country name into it's own value.

While it can make workflows or list filtering a little more complicated when you use the Country property as a criteria or filter as you now need to keep multiple "Country" properties in mind, but if you're only using a few languages at most it's certainly managable and as I mentioned, makes for a smooth user experience on your forms.

Thanks @c_chaplin ! Indeed we are also using multiple custom country properties. The challenge for us is that we have many downstream workflows that are driven by the country property, as well as a complex integration with Salesforce, which makes the multiplication of country properties pretty much unmanageable. I do hope that our Hubspot gurus will soon solve this for us 🙂

Having the option to sort properties of all types would be great!

We have 8 languages and many dropdown fields so this would be hugely helpful for us.
