Simple Toggle Switch to Disable Downloads of Shared Sales Documents!
Sales documents can be sensitive. Due to Hubspot's download button being always available, these documents are not secure!
One of the value propositions of hosting documents online in our CRM is that the customer can view them, but can't share them without permission (or at least can't share them without us knowing who they were sent to)
The email requirement protects the document from the first viewer only. After that, they can download and share at will.
This also means that any future viewers who recieve a downloaded copy will not be included in the document viewership metrics / reporting.
Additionally, by preventing downloads, we could actually encourage customers to share the link, and this would enhance our visibility into potential decision-makers within the company.
I saw that this issue was created in 2017 and was very popular, but I think 4 years later it is worthy of a re-examination. The issue was very popular then and I think it will continue to be popular now. I think hubspot is losing out on a significant "secure" sales enablement solution here, all over a single "off" switch! Please consider!
Hey @ccohen1 , you can check out CloudFiles which offers ability to disable downloads on documents among other things. Everything works within HubSpot.
Agreed. Also, the ability to upload a new version of the document from Hubspot and automatically update the link to point to the new version of the document without affecting the link itself.
Hard to believe that Hubspot is not ensuring this feature for the documents after 7y of requests...and you have to pay for an extra tool, such as Cloudfiles, to ensure your customers can't download a document Sometimes it is better to work on improving the current functionalities than being too fancy with new AI features...
