Set up custom SMTP

I'm a developer using the hubspot API quite a bit. We trigger hubspot emails quite often on our website, when a customer creates or updates its account etc ...

The idea would be to link our application to a hubspot sandbox, and on that sandbox we would set up a custom smtp just so we can catch all emails being sent to a solution like mailtrap, and avoid sending test emails to real customers by accident.

As good of an idea as this is, Hubspot would never let you do that.  Hubspot allowing a 3rd party SMTP server is not much different than Apple allowing apps to be side-loaded.  Doing that limits their abiliity to squeeze every penny they possibly can out of you.  If they allowed 3rd party SMTP servers, you'd be able to send as many emails as you want through any number of great cost-effective solutions out there rather than being limited to paying Hubspot their outrageous fees for Marketing Hub marketing contacts or their "transactional email" plan.

This whole Apply-style way of doing business needs to stop.
