Select only nested team for inbox permissions

Currently, when setting access permissions for a Hubspot Inbox, you cannot select a nested team without selecting the parent team.

In the screenshot below, if you deselect the team named "Department" then "Sub-team" is deselected as well.

This may even be bug, as there does not seem to be any point to having nested Teams in this scenario.

I don't think this is a bug. I think this is as-designed. Which is backwards from what I would have expected. In my head, I want to put the most generic permissions in the top level group, and I want to put more exclusive permissions into sub groups. However, I think that hubspot works in the exact opposite way.

Teams above others can see everything owned below them, but the teams under can't see everything own...

In effect, folks assigned to an upper level team can view everything the lower-level teams can view. While the lower-level teams CANNOT view things the upper-level teams can view. These limits seem to be irrespective of a users "main" versus "extra" team association.

When you take into account all of the other uses of teams (reporting, content permissions, etc), it's likely that you'll have to structure the teams very differently than initially expected. I know I am!
