Admins should be able to restrict users from creating a new Property, There is no such option to restrict, Right now, Since I need to give Edit access to users to the contact property, this is resulting in my Sales Team creating new Properties ona random basis, I started off a few years ago with 200 Properties, right now I have about 400 properties under Contacts Object, Many of them being repeated, Eg. Domain, Domain Name, Users Domain, Domain of the emal Address etc.
Right now it is impossible to do it BUT what you can do is 2 things :
You can use the audit log with "property" filter and look for "create". If you see something you don't want it => you know who is guilty
You can create a small script that say : IF a new property is created and the "modified by" is not "me" then I DELETE the property. It is hard but once they see that it doesn't work anymore, they will start to ask before doing something.
Bonus : In the second option we can even send an email to the user attempting to create a property to say : sorry, you are not allowed to do that, here is the property you tried to create (with all the data), your hubspot admin is in CC of this email and will decide if it should be created. If you decide it is OK, you can unarchived the property or use data in the email to create it or update another property with the options needed.
I hope this message is useful !
