Hi everyone! I'm an Associate Program Manager on the CXM team here at HubSpot. I'm excited to share that there is a Private Beta available for the ability to rename HubSpot Defined Objects! You can read more about the beta here, and opt into it from the Product Updates page in your account. Please leave feedback here as you use the tool so our teams can continue to add to the feature. 🙂 This beta is available for all Hubs & Tiers.
My brokerage client is using the "Tickets" object in a different way to standard Service/Support, because the in-built features of this native object (the ability to relate to Deals and Contacts) works well for them. However we would ideally like to modify the Label for the object and appropriate fields that include the word Ticket. Salesforce includes this cability to rename Objects and Tabs as standard, so it would be similar to that.
Definitly a feature you should build. It makes sure the wording in Hubspot matches the wording employees use inside the company. Which makes the software way more user friendly without adding complexity.
Example from your competitor Freshsales "How to rename Lead, Contact, Account, and Deal modules on Freshsales":
Who- For B2C businesses where the "Company" object is not very relevant. There should be a feature to rename the "Company" Object, Name & functionality.
Goal- With this, the Pro tier (B2C) Companies get at least 1 custom object to work with.
Value- This will help HubSpot adaptation for B2C businesses be easier.
Example- Industries like B2C Edtech, can rename the Company object as "Family" and use it to have father, mother, and child contact under one object.
We're a HS services provider and one of our clients has a Marketing Enterprise account which allows us to create custom objects. I've tried this functionality which is available on Enterprise plans. But as part of this functionality, I would like to not only create custom objects that can be associcated with native objects but also customize the names of native objects so that a) the data model and related reporting is as simple and streamlined as possible and b) the user interface for these customers makes more sense to them by having names for native objects (Gifts rather than Deals, for example) that correspond to their use case.
For example, we'd like to be able to change the name of Deals to Gifts and Companies to Households. We can then create custom objects such as Appeals that are associated with the Gifts native object and Gifts that are associated with Households native object instead of having to create a custom object for Gifts, a custom object for Appeals, a custom object for Households and then associating Deals with Gifts and Gifts with Appeals and then having to associate Companies native object with Households custom object and Household custom object with Gift custom object.
We'd love this. We work with clients who are couples buying a property. Rather than company we'd prefer the name 'Account'. It's cleaner and makes the CRM feel and work more like how we need to use it.
Defintely needed. It would also be helpful to be able to dis associate SOME fields from a non hubspot form that are not relevant in the hubspot database. For instance, we have an order form that includes a phone number that is not part of the sales contact information, but this phone number continuously overwrites our sales contact phone number and that makes the entire phone number field useless
This is a very important capability for our use case. We don't work with companies. We work with government organizations. It is very confusing to staff what a "company" is and why they need to use that for an "organization".
So necessary, especially for #nonprofits using HubSpot - while the native architecture can handle US nonprofit business processes, the nomenclature leaves much to be desired. Can we get this prioritized for both the HS Standard Objects and the ones included in the new Object Library? It would enable helping impact organizations see themselves in this platform.
Great news: The beta is live for renaming default objects in HubSpot. You can go in the product update section (click on your profile in the upper right corner and then on "Products Updates") and ask to join the beta (update name: Rename HubSpot Defined Objects / update id: 13980244).
Now to actually edit the default object, go in the settings > "Object Library". Choose the object you want to rename and click on the pencil icon to select a new default name for your object. Feel free to check this video made by the HubSpot product team to see the step by step change.

Hello, the feature seems interesting but there is something missing.
If i rename Deals with Opportunity, the "Deal name" property is still "Deal name" and i can't rename to "Opportunity name" as it is a default property.
@Nicolas-Lug The Beta writeup says that HS is aware that the label change doesn't matriculate throughout the totality of the platform and mobile experience. I have no great insight, but would suggest that this is probably something that would get worked out over time to general release. That said, the Salesforce standard Object renaming also has limitations on where the changed label shows up, so it feels par for the course with CRMs.
