Quote previous emails in Reply emails

Like most standalone email programs, replying to an email through HubSpot should include the previous emails in the thread as quoted test, along with basic header data, below the signature. This allows the receiver to have context, or to see what has been written to colleagues in the thread. This is present in almost all email clients I know of.

 

As it is, my workflow is (a) highlight the email copy to whom I am replying in hubspot or my standalone email client, (b) reply to an email via hubspot reply button (b) manually paste the previous emails texts under my signature.

(c) Sometimes, I will find the email in my standalone email client and hit reply to get the header info then copy it. 

 

As you can imagine, this is an incredibly clunky workflow to get around an odd limitation in the HubSpot system. I do so because your ability to track opens as well as set follow-up tasks within the CRM is needed but it adds probably hours to my workweek. I'm sure I'm not the only user for whom this simple and common feature would make a huge difference.

I totally agree. I do the same thing by manually putting in the old email and typing in at least a basic pseudo-header like "On X Date, Y <email> wrote:" to artificially create a thread. Like you I value the ability to track opens and set follow-ups enough that I do it, but it's crazy that they don't have such a basic standard email function that's been around decades in every free email program and it does indeed add HOURS to my workflow each week.

 

Unfortunately, I can't get the benefits of tracking etc. using my desktop email client because I'm on a Mac and they only have a PC Outlook extension, so I'm stuck (even if I'm willing to use Outlook on Mac) using their app-based or web-based UI for this. Please fix it!

Totally agree. I end up going to my external email, searching for the conversation, and replying there which is a pain in the butt...

Tunrs out - the thread is included but simply is not shown in the new email on your display. Weird, right? I have tested this and when I reply in HubSpot web portal, the previous text is not shown but is always included when I check the sent email in Outlook.

 

For me, the question is why not? I like to reread elements of the thread as I compse my next reply. But, rest assured the entire thread is being included. I'd LOVE to be able to see it below the current reply and to scroll through it as needed.

Due to the fact that the previous emails are not shown when replying to an email I am not using HubSpot for writing email and tasks. So please fix this issue! In the past I was working with closeCRM, that inbox was the best I saw in the industrie. Have a look 😉

This function would be very useful and would significantly increase the acceptance of our CRM.

Very needed features... Otherwiser can't use the reply functions in most cases.
