Optional Line Items for Quotes

There should be a check box or something that would allow you to make an included line item optional.

The system would immediately recognize this, perhaps highlight the line item in different color, and then add small verbiage that says something along the lines of "Optional Line Item - not included in total price" or just "Optional".

Additionally, it should mark the line item cost/price as zero so that it's not included in the total price of the quote.

This I believe is better than simply adding a line item and then setting the quantity to zero.  It may confuse the customer.

Upvoting. I cant beleive that so many organisations are still using a second quote System (me included). And from a development perspective, this really is such a simple solution. Come on HubSpot - make it a great 2024.

Upvoting this idea and strongly requesting. Prospective client that really wants to use HubSpot showed me how easy this is to do in competitor Odoo, and I couldn't believe it wasn't added to HubSpot yet, when it's such a simple thing to add.

This is a must have for the quotation function within HubSpot

Very surprising HubSpot has not yet implemented this idea. It is essential for sales teams to have options when quoting.

Up vote. I was given this explanation in a support ticket yesterday where I asekd for help on this feature request (before I found this thread). I'm not clear what happens after I create a custom form - is that supposed to be embedded in the quote or is the custom form supposed to replace the quote feature? I just reopened the ticket and hoping to have clarification...

You can create a custom contact property with a dropdown select/ single checkbox field (we can find out more about this here)

After which, you can add the custom property into a form to allow contacts to choose and submit

We also need the opportunity for our customers to decide what package they want to sign in for.

Then we could finally use Hubspot as our single point of truth of all data.. would be great.

Has anyone come up with a good workaround for this? Is it even possible with custom coded quote templates to give the client different line item options that they can sign off on and be finalized within the actual quote total amount?

Does people still have this issue? My wife's company has this need so I'm wondering if somebody else would be interested if I develop the solution.

+1 for optional line items, similar to PandaDoc. We have optional modules we like to present as part of a quote and having the ability to differentiate what's optional would be extremely helpful to not scare a prospect with a huge quote!

+1. Much needed. I was shocked when i found out, that this standad basic functionality, that is included in any Billing and offer software does not exist in Hubspot.

This is a must-have feature for our Sales. Otherwise, we can't use HubSpot.

At the moment it is not possible to mark fields in the offers as “optional”. That said, I can see how that would be helpful! We need this!

Anyone figured out a good workaround?

+1 we also use PandaDoc still for this option as it's important. They have the ability to use radio select and optional (true/false) checkboxes. Very helpful in creating more dynamic proposals.

I have built a work around.

If you have enterprise, you can:

1. Edit the quote template and add in some javascript so that when the page loads it registers a custom event via the API (be careful about storing keys etc).

If you do not have enterprise, you can:

1. Edit the quote template and add in some javascript so that when the page loads it hits a webhook endpoint. I use Microsoft PowerAutomate for this as I know it well.

2. PowerAutomate gets the quote and deal information from the quote slug (using HubSpot API) then puts a message into a Microsoft Teams channel saying the quote has been viewed (becuase why not..., other messaging platforms are available)

3. PowerAutomate then creates a timeline event on the Deal to say the quote has been viewed.

For both options you need to put some logic to make sure that it doesn't fire when one of your team clicks on the link. I do this based on the referrer and setting a cookie, so that reloads of the quote dont trigger the "quote viewed" process.

Not necessary the niceest workaround but it works pretty well.

As much as I appreciate you providing a "work around", we all pay enough money for the subscription that we shouldn't have to do our own programming in HubSpot. This should be a standard feature implemented ASAP because it's obvious to me that I'm on the only one that wants/needs this functionality.
I'm not programmer and HubSpot is for sales and marketing so we shouldn't need a developer in order to get things that should be standard in the system.
Again, thank you for your comment and for upvoting my idea!

Hi, absolutely definitely upvoting this one! Super important and a bit of a deal breaker for one of our new customers.

They are a manufacturer who has various methods of delivering a product. They are very keen on the quote to give a customer an a, b or c option, which they can choose from, and then the one field chosen feeds into $ reporting correctly.

Is there a potential date on reviewing this functionality please, and possible implementation?

The customer is using Quotient which has this functionality, I was hoping HubSpot quotes would mean all data sits together - hopefully it will soon.

Yours hopefully with everything crossed ...

Thank you, Alison

Hi team, absolutely keen to have this functionality please HubSpot! When might you review this idea?

We've a new customer on board using various hubs and the lack of options in the commerce/quotes area is a deal breaker for them. A workaround would be good but reiterating what other folks above have mentioned, it's an expensive tool and this seems like a fab enhancement as part of your current offering. FYI our customer is using Quotient. I am very keen for HubSpot to be viewed in a good light and get this functionality sitting within the tool ASAP.
