It would be fantastic if there were an option to NOT automatically follow every record (contact, ticket, or deal) that gets assigned to me. I do want to follow some records and for those records, I still want to get email notifications. So I can't simply turn off the email notifications. However, for many records, I do not need a notifications of every call, email, activity, etc that gets logged.

We are having the same issue that has resulted in some users turning off notifications because they were inundated with "meaningless" email alerts.
System notifications should help us reach our goal of right data, right time.
In general, it would be helpful to know what default settings will be in place when HubSpot rolls out anything so we can put plans in place to mitigate risk of it running counter to our portal use cases.
