Office 365 Plugin to Log Email even with Sidebar Closed

The Knowledge Base article for the new Office 365 plugin specifically says, "any preferences set for tracking and logging emails are only applied when the HubSpot Sales sidebar pane is open in the inbox when composing each individual email. You can pin the task pane open in your inbox to ensure your emails are always logged and tracked."

This restriction has caused issues with a sales team that I support. After receiving many complaints from sales team members about their emails not logging, we switched everybody to the more reliable Outlook Desktop plugin that always logs, whether the sidebar is open or not. Unfortunatley, that version is no longer supported and won't work if we upgrage to the new Outlook.

For my personal use, my computer has a small screen and I just don't have the screen space to ever have the sidebar open. It automatically collapses my folders just to make enough space for itself.

Please make it so that the logging preferences are always applied by the Office 365 Plugin, not just when the sidebar is open.

If possible, please also include the information on how many records an email is logging to in the ribbon like it was with the old plugin. My sales team is going to have to start manually adjusting their associations, and an inescapable visual reminder that they are associating their email to 8 records, so they should maybe uncheck some of those deals, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading my request!

HubSpot sales task pane for Office 365 outlook for web obscures message

This article explains that the add-in task pane must be open in Office 365 Outlook for web browser and pinned when you send a logged and tracked email: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/email-tracking/customize-your-hubspot-sales-office-365-add-in#pin-the-...

However, the add-in task pane obscures the message you are trying to compose or read. Because of this, most of my team therefore close the task pane when composing or reading an email which therefore means the emails are not logged or tracked.

Is there a way to fix this?

When I read this as a shortcoming in HubSpot, I was surprised. It doesn't seem user-friendly at all. Hopefully it's an update we can get.

Our business has recently switched from using Gmail to Office365/Outlook, and the discovery of this experience has been horrendous.

The plug-in worked exceptionally well for Gmail, but with Outlook the team are constantly failing to log emails correctly to Hubspot because it's all too easy to close the plug-in, and given the amount of screen asset required, not desirable to have it permanently open.

I would love to see a solution which is far more passive, not requiring anything to be pinned/open.

Currently it seems we need to pin the Hubspot sales extension every time we open outlook. It's causing emails to not get logged as we constantly forget. Is there a way to have the extension sidebar open in mail automatically?

My users have the same issue - sales reps usually have small laptops without much screen real estate, so the size of the sidebar is a huge hinderance. If it's going to sign you out, it should at least notify you that you need to sign back in. My sales reps usually don't know they're signed out until it's too late and they lost all that email logging.
