I have noticed that we can look into workflow revision history but we do not have the option to restore that previous revision history. I would really like to be able to restore based off revision history, we can currently do this for landing pages. What is the point of having revision history if there isn't an option to restore it?
I also noticed that if you remove an action at the top of the workflow all following actions and steps are instantly deleted without a warning sign. This is extremly dangerous espically since we cannot restore workflows based on revision history. We just had a very long workflow with an action at the very beggining that needed to be removed. We needed to remove this action and our understanding was that it would just go to the next step in the flow or at least give a warning sign that steps are about to be deleted if you remove this action, but it did not. Now the entire workflow is deleted and we have no way to restore it ourselves.
I wanted to flag this becasue this is potentially very dangerous to user who are updating workflows.
Hi everyone! My name is Pukhraj and I'm a Product Manager on the Automation Team. We've heard your feedback and want to let you know that this is currently in development! I'll post updates here as we finish up!
Yeah, this is a terrible feature gap. I get that there is almost certainly some surprising technical complexity here (what to do with contacts mid-workflow, for example) - but a limited "Revert" functionality (that, for example, would just remove everyone mid-flow) would seem to be fairly straight-forward. It's FAR too easy with branching flows to wipe out huge amounts of actions, then have to spend hours: a) remembering what they were, and b) re-creating them.
HubSpot how do we not have any tools to undo or restore edits to a Workflow? Every other tool has great functionality for saving, publishing, undoing/redoing, and viewing/reverting previous versions but for some reason Workflows have none of that? Like everyone else here, I found that out the hard way with inadvertently deleting part of an extensive Workflow and having to put in a lot of work to rebuild it from the ground up. Just take the functionality you already have in other tools and apply it to Workflows. Thanks.
HubSpot, this is crazy! I just made a small adjustment to a branch that resulted in the accidental loss of 31 actions with the click of a button. No way to undo the whole thing? Come on, let's get this updated. It's crazy. I can even see the whole workflow as it was in the version history. Where is the restore option?
Yes! HubSpot, this is a must! I was working on a workflow and it deleted itself. As in: I was creating a branch, the screen went blank and all of my work WAS GONE. There needs to be a "revert to version" function
Just deleted an entire branch of +10 actions by mistaking the workflow. WHY CAN'T I just restore it?? I appreciate having the revision so that I can replicate but I will now waste a lot of time restoring this manually. We really need this functionality.
Need this! I accepted the workflow clean-up recomendations and it broke the logic in my branches. Very grateful to version history so I can see what I need to get back to, but it would be so so so helpful to just restore to a previous version.
It's now May 2024 and I am experiencing the same issue still.
I made some changes to a workflow today and wanted to revert to a version from the other day, effectively undoing all of the changes I made today. I can SEE the reivision, but support tells me that I will have to create a new workflow that looks like my revision, rather than just being able to restore this version. This is essentially useless to me, as I am still spending a huge amount of time undoing something manually when there really isn't any excuse to not be able to do this.
Additionally, I attempted to use the "undo" arrow button, but instead of a linear undo process like you would typically expect, the undo button here seems to be working in a circular process. I would undo a few times, and it seemed to be REDOING the things I was trying to undo. After doing it way too many times, I realized that I wasn't getting anywhere and it was just redoing the action I was trying to remove. This prevented me from being able to undo all of today's changes (only 4 or so changes, but I removed a large branch I was trying to get back.)
So between the undo button and the revision history, I am still stuck having to manually recreate this workflow and though I understand it is my fault for deleting a branch of the workflow that I needed, I don't think I should be "punished" for making a mistake like this.
This is such a basic need that HubSpot is failing to provide, but they have podcasting features now, so all is well.
