I need the ability to restrict account merges in Hubspot but still allow employees to be able to edit the account. I have found that merging accounts can be done with anyone who can edit a record which can be very dangerous as the record ids change. I am little surprised that there is no option to stop this in the first place.
Completely agree, this is an important feature that is badly needed. I'm durrently spending a LOT of time cleaning up historical merges in a client portal that resulted in important properties getting changed (e.g. original source) due to end users merging records without first assessing which record should have been the primary.
