More robust project tracking

Our previous CRM had a projects object that allowed us to track and manage projects through stages, and allowed us to use automation in the project flow.  What would be great is to essentially clone the funcitionality in Deals into a separate Projects object.  Then we could set up different project pipelines and stages and automate assignment of tasks and notifications.  This would also make it easier to link a contact and company to prjects, and we would be able to see where projects are in a board view just like deals.  Also, instead of a sales amount, we could enter cost of the project and would be able to put together reporting for project costs by company or project type.  Also, we could automate project creation as soon as a deal closes.  Really the list of benefits is endless.
