Permission Setting to Turn Off Merge Capability

AS admin in companies with more than 50 users, we should be able to manage permissions to merge contacts since it implies "manipulating" the database by anyone who can edit contacts even if he is not aware of the impact merges could have.

Note: Product Updates currently defaults to showing "New to you". It wasn't in there for me. Selecting "In beta", in the All product updates section, and then searching for "Merge permissions for Contacts, Companies, Deals, Tickets, and Custom Objects" revealed it.

Now that merging creates a new Record ID, being able to turn off Merge permissions at the user level is critical to the integrity of the tools the integrate with HubSpot.

Lol, give up already. This company has lost its way. Once my partner status goes away because I don't sell their mandatory 4 grand a year, I'll be moving all of my clients to other solutions that doesn't rely on years of complaints to get a simple feature enabled/built.

We need this functionality as well. We have multiple business units in our HubSpot and there are data integrity concerns that need to be managed with merges, so it's critical that only certain team members have the ability to merge contacts.

This would be so helpful for us concerning mering deals. In our use case, I would be happy for our reguls sales team to merge companies and contacts, but I would prefer if we could restrict *deal merging* to Team leaders if possible. We bulk create some deals with specific info, and it's likely that the associated contact may create their own deal by coming back through a web form (which auto creates a deal under our workflow system). I would want to maintain the bulk-created deal as the master and ensure any subsequently created deals merge into this one.

Hi all! We just discovered that Merge permissions is in Beta now. We joined the public Beta last week and it's working great. In product updates in Beta, search for Merge and you'll find the Beta for 'Merge permissions for Contacts, Companies, Deals, Tickets, and Custom Objects'.

Amazing! Just joined beta. this is huge. I need reps and OPMs to be able to edit company records, but because the HS record ID is integrated with other billing systems, it totally screws things up if they merge company records for customers. This will save our Ops team dozens of manual hours.

Follow up question - does this mean that it sidesteps the permissions issue to do merges? IE, if a contact does not have permission to delete records they do not own, would this solve for that, and allow them to still merge? 🙂
