Manually creating a deal that is close won, date is still at the end of the month

When manually creating a deal and moving it to closed won right away, the close date still stays the end of the month. I recommended setting the close date as a required field so when this happens he remembers to manually set the close date to today instead of the end of the month, but this should not have to be a manual process.

is there any other way for people who are not on professional/enterprise plans and hence cannot set fields as required? i agree, this should not be set as a manual service.

Hey Team!

Just following up on this thread that this has now been resolved. 

You can now apply default close date to new deals. This will be under Settings-> Objects->Deals.
