Mandatory association labels

I would like to have the possibility to make association labels mandatory, so that when a user makes an association, they always need to select an association label

As a workaround, someone from Hubspot was trying to set this via workflow so that if it wasn't filled in by a user, a workflow would set it, however, whilst we can use association labels as triggers or in if/then branches, the ability to set an association label via workflow is not yet possible.

I see that this is in beta now. Any possibility I could get access? "Request Beta" button is greyed out in product updates.

It is availble in beta.

You can request access on the product updates section when clicking on your avatar.

Looking for a way to do this not just on a manual create, but when a Deal hits a specific stage of the pipeline. I appreciate the beta rollout of requiring it on create, but in our case, we only need a Deal record to be associated with another custom object record when the Deal makes it past "Discovery". Would love some more flexibility with this feature.

Hi community,

This idea is a great idea for me. In addition to creating a manual association label when someone creates a new record manually in each object, I would like this possibility to be available in the workflows too.

Many times, I need to automatically create a lot of deals or personalized objects that, depending on some properties, the association must be different.

I need this because, many times, I need to update some properties in only specific records in one type of object.

For example, I would like to update the pipeline in the deals where the association label with the contact is "Partner" and not update it if the association label is "Customer". But I need the creation of this association label to be automatic.

Thanks for your ideas.

This looks like a good BETA already - thank you!

We have a Deal-to-Deal association with labels Primary/Child.

Do you know if we can have the label mandatory every time a Deal is associated with another Deal?

What is happening at the moment is that users associate Deals but might forget to add the label.

It should be possible to require an association with a particular label, with a "conditional logic" based on a property value.

For the moment, we can display properties with these conditions, but not associations.

In my case, depending on certain properties and values, I need to associate deals with a label.

@FPalmisano How stable is the Beta? It is it worth playing with it while we get the actual feature?

Hi @isabelvx,
It looks like it's working well for now, but we're not adopting it that much.
I'm more waiting about that other requirements we'd need. 🙏

I just started using the Beta, but it appears you can only require one association in the creation stage. It would be nice to apply multiple associations in this stage - ie Primary Contact, Billing Contact, etc.

Definitely needs love - making it conditional upon stage as well would be very nice.

i.e. Champion Won stage requires an associated champion contact.

Looks like the Beta has been pushed from release twice now. It was first scheduled for September, now it's gone.

Hi, just checking out the beta.
It seems I can't require the existing native parent <> child label for the company-company association. Not sure if that's the target behavior but IMO it should behave the same way for all association labels

Cannot agree more, totally necessary feature

HubSpot, we need this! It is too easy for a user to miss this step, having the option to require labels for any company to company association would be so helpful in keeping clean data.

@SBiddy  They made it happen its under beta now you should be able to add it to your ACC all thye need now is to come out with their own phone system and Next button inside a contad/deal /company and theyre set!

Hi there, me again for a feedback on this feature !

So I'm in the company creation form. I would like to give the possibility for someone that create a company to link it to an existing company (child/parent).

So the behaviour I would like to set up is : "IF a company is associated to the record you want to create, you have to select a label".
Today it seems that the choice that I have is either to require a company <-> company association 100% of the time, which is not what I want, because I selected the label as "mandatory",

OR

Renounce to have a mandatory label on that association

The beta listed above does not actually cover the request here. It only makes the association label requiered when you are creating a new record. It does not make the association label requiered when you are simply adding an association between 2 exsisting objects.

Beta works pretty good. Only issue I have come across is you can only force a primary company on a deal-create form. I'd like the option to chose which association label users are forced to use.

you can do it for ticket/contact associations but not company

Hey,

I have the following challenge with this feature.
If I want to set a label I have to choose the company twice. Once for the label and once because the primary association is mandatory.

CElis_1-1731502811210.png

Also I would really like the option to have 2 or more labels I can associate. So if I create a deal I can directly associate the customer & supplier/ student & teacher or whatever the case might be.
