Make mandatory Product Line Items on Deals an option! [Revenue Reporting Issue]
As the ARR & MRR reporting is based around these properties, which are calculated via the Line Items, it's essential for accurate reporting that it be possible to make adding them to Deals mandatory.
I've worked with a few organisations where this has been an issue now, and while creating 'Missing Line Item' tasks and reminder notification workflows for the sales reps helps, there are always going to be Deals here and there missing Line Items with the current, and so Annual & Monthly Revenue Reporting inaccurate.
If it were simply possible to enforce the addition of Line Items so as to move between stages, or move the deal to Closed Won, the problem would be solved.
As it currently stands I have a few clients with this issue, and I'm seeing between 40-60% completion of deals with associated product line items - making these key reporting properties unreliable and incomplete.
Unfortunately, the new release doesn't solve this. It only makes line items required upon deal creation, whereas it's more needed as you're moving through deal stages.
We have no idea what the line items will be when a deal first gets created, and we won't have it finalized until the deal closes.
The new released doesnt even help the problem at all. How in the world did this get approved without the ability to require the line item at a custom point in the pipeline like every other field. Major L Hubspot. Please fix this ASAP.
Recent release doesn't address the main issue - the requiring of line items as you move through deal stages (e.g. at closed won, line items with an amount are required).
This fix addresses the few cases where (a) the line item is known at the opportunity / early stages; (b) the quantity is known; and (c) the price is fixed. Most deals will not have at least 1 of those aspects known at the time of deal creation.
Hoping this gets resolved ASAP as this proving a significant barrier to making Hubspot fully enabled in our business.
This isn't a direct solution but thought I would mention our app LinePilot in case it's an option for some - it allows you to automatically add line items to your deals.
This means you can automate the work of getting Sales Reps to add line items to the deals, and it's flexible enough that it can be used for multiple different deal/product groups, based on the information on the deals.
HubSpot, are you listening? This request dates back to 2021. I am currently seeking the ability to add a list of standard line items to a quote template. The purpose of obtaining such a list is to improve productivity efficiency. By having a standardized set of items, generating quotes can be streamlined and more efficient. This, in turn, can lead to improved profitability and customer satisfaction. Your assistance in providing such a list would be greatly appreciated.
This would also be helpful for some of our clients that are growing their sales process and training members of the sales team for product-based services.
