Make Hubspot property validation rules enforceable on forms
Currently all data property validation rules are not enforced when a property value is set by a form submission.
Please modify this so that data property validation rules are enforced on form submissions.
We rarely modify properties manually due to the number of contacts we have. We rely on forms to gather customer data.
With data validation rules not being enforced in forms we are getting submissions that exceed the character limits of downstream process and breaks them resulting in manual fixes every time this happens.
Surly the majority of accounts have the majority of their data properties filled through form submissions, not manual data entry.
Highly agree the Hubspot-created properties should allow for editing the validation rules. They should also be allowed in form submissions we currently use default hubspot properties for customers to raise tickets and we would like to limit the character count on responses as they tend to just type loads and this effects our reporting. Very frustrating.
Yes please - Hubspot customer support just explained this to me and it took me some time to understand what they meant!
Essentially all I do in Hubspot is create forms; there'd never be a reason for me to edit a value manually. So having validation rules that don't apply to forms is to me effectively just saying "You can set validation rules but they won't work."
Agree! I assumed this was the reason you'd use the validation property rules feature. Dissapointed to see there is no work around! Would be great to get this implemented
The recent validation rules addition to HubSpot-custom properties has been a great help in setting max character limits and reductions on acceptance of special characters.
One of the areas that's still open to validation rule failure is the form submission fields for these HubSpot-custom properties.
For instance, if I set a 50-max character limit+ No special character validation rule on First Name, I would expect that when first names are submitted that don't meet those validation rules, they're marked as invalid. This will help maintain data quality on the property in entirety, and not partially as it stands with the validation rules only being applied for manual adjustments and imports.
Please review this consideration and provide additional application to the Marketing Forms as well.
What's the point of field validation rules when a primary method of data input (forms) ignores those rules. Except for the rare exception, the only reason we edit records in the CRM UI (where the rules *are* enforeced), is to fix invalid form-submitted data (where the rules are NOT enforced)
Property rule application on forms is now available in a HubSpot beta update. To access it, select the drop-down for your user profile, and then Product Updates. In the left-navigation, select "All Product Updates", and then search for "validation".
