Limit the number of contacts added to a sequence daily through a Workflow

In order to abide by sequence email sending limits, please allow an option to limit/throttle the number of contacts which may be enrolled in a sequence each day through a specific workflow, regardless of the trigger eligibility.

@CCrompton While it's not necessarily going to solve your whole problem, you might want to check out a FREE TOOL we built called split test automation where you can macro-throttle things.  This is a link to the HubSpot App Marketplace where you can check it out.

And more specifically, this is an example set up where you'd add the enroll to a sequence for each cohort.  For example, if you know how many people you'll enroll in a typical week, you could just set up as many splits as you want to keep you under the sending limits.  Again, not completely ideal, but may resolve some of your pain.

I'm running an event where I have a set number of seats and I'd like the workflow to redirect to another workflow or branch to send "waitlist" messaging when the attendance cap is hit. An alert when I hit this number would also suffice.

Any response to DanielleSUrban?  I have the same situation!

Needing this at the moment as well. We would like to enter only X number of contacts through a workflow daily, which are going to be assigned to the Sales reps to follow-up. We don't want to have a big bulk of contacts at once going through the workflow.

Same, would make a lot of sense to avoid sending too many emails in one go...

It'd be great if Hubspot's sequences allowed you to upload any number of contacts at once and, using your daily sending limit and configurable options, pace the sending evenly over however many days needed.

For example, we may have 3K contacts we need to sequence. Right now, we can bypass the enrollment limit of 50 by using workflows; however, if we do more than 1K, we reach our daily sending limit, which means the other 2K contacts will enroll in the workflow but fail the sequence enrollment.

This forces us to upload 1K today,  set a reminder to upload another 1K tomorrow, and then 1K the next day. This is a very manual process, prone to errors.

Additionally, I think 1K daily is a TON for a single user. Not to mention that Hubspot doesn't allow you set max sending frequency per hour or per minute.

I'd prefer it to be ~250 emails per day. However, imagine doing the above, manually, but having to do this over a 12-day span to stick within your desired sending pace?

I figure it'd be much simpler to just grab by 3K contacts, set my sending limit to 250, set my hourly sending limit to 30 emails, and then let Hubspot figure out how long it will take to send out all my auto emails.

And no, not all of our steps are auto-emails, but a good chunk of our sequences have at least one.

Would be great to see this come to a release soon.

I absolutely love this idea! The ability to queue up a list and have contacts automatically enter a sequence or workflow at a set pace, like X per day, until the entire list is enrolled, would be a game changer.

Instead of manually uploading batches and worrying about hitting limits, we could just set it and forget it—letting HubSpot manage the pacing. It would save so much time and reduce the chances of something slipping through the cracks.

This kind of feature would really streamline workflows and make life easier for the entire team. I’m all for it!

I've commented here before, but wanted to let everyone know that we've built a workflow action that solves for this problem and then some (screenshot below).  If you'd like to chat, feel free to reach out mike[at]theseventhsense.com

My app, Daeda Essentials, includes a Throttle action just like this - allowing you to delay workflow executions by XXX ms and effectively throttle them.

Here's the install link

And the product page

It also contains batching, syncing and manual approval nodes.

I know it's cumbersome but you can set your 1k lists up indvidually, create a branch with delays and list name criteria, and just enroll everyone at once. That way no one has to remember to enroll a new batch everyday.

Don't get me wrong, I completely agree this issue needs to be worked out. Just wanted to suggest another way around it.
