Invoices - enable editing and partial payments

Hello,

Please consider the following requests:

1) Please make invoices editable

2) Please enable the ability for customers to make partial payments.

Regarding #1 - it's absolutely necessary for me as a business owner to be able to edit invoices. I don't like the fact that after I've finished with an invoice I have to hit Finalize and then if the customer changes their mind after the fact, I can't go back in and edit the invoice. I use QuickBooks Online as my primary accounting software and from what I've heard with other similar systems (Xero, Invoice Ninja, Sage, etc) they all provide this functionality.

Regarding #2 - There are times when customers only want to make a partial payment. For example, my policy is that customers pay for products or services I need to purchase before I do the job and then pay the labor after I'm finished. Or maybe the CX wants to make a deposit or a downpayment. They can't do that with how HubSpot Invoices are currently set up. These are just two of many examples.

Thanks!

Hi everyone! My name is Hallie, and I'm an Associate Program Manager on our CXM team here at HubSpot. I wanted to provide an update on this post, because part of it is available.

Specifically, partial payments were released last year in HubSpot. There's more details on how this can be done and how it works in this community post. More recently, displaying history of partial payments was released, which you can read more about here. 🙂

With that said, the ability to edit invoices after they're finalized is still something in the 'idea submitted' stage, so I won't mark this post as delivered yet. I created a separate feature request for the ability to edit paid/finalized invoices here based on the feedback in the original post and in the comments. Please leave feedback and upvotes on that request if you are still in need of the ability to edit paid invoices; our teams will be able to keep track of that more directly that way!

Hi Hallie,

Many thanks for your update on the Partial Payment capability. While this
is a significant development, it still doesn't allow us to issue invoices
for different amounts, like we can with the Payment Plan.
Many service providers, like ourselves, want to offer our clients a payment
plan that allows them to pay a deposit (for 30% of the total project value,
for example) and then the remaining 70% after the service has been
delivered. Partial payment does not currently support this.

Furthermore, it would be great to have the ability to update the line
items, as things often change during the delivery of a project, and we can
then update or create additional invoices that include these updated line
items and track the payments made to date and amount owing....just like we
can with the Payment Plan option.

While the payment plan is a great feature, the fact that we can only use
Stripe Payments to trigger the creation of the draft invoices is the real
downfall. Asia and Europe do not have as big a credit culture as they do in
the United States, and our clients prefer to pay via Bank Transfer.
Especially for large amounts of $10,000+

I suggest you give a try Hubspot Xero integration app. This app helps you manually edit your invoice. You can create and customise Xero invoices and quotes directly from HubSpot Deals, with complete control over taxes, amounts, discounts, and products. Split invoices by percentage ratio for complex billing scenarios, review drafts before syncing and maintain flexibility for special requirements while saving time on manual entry. If you have any questions, you can book a free consultation; their experts will help you integrate with Xero - https://meetings.hubspot.com/cloudify/app-assistance

@hhiggins any update on the last part of this idea?

@RSM32 I'm afraid, not, as it's still in the 'idea submitted' stage. However, if it does go into production, this post will be updated to reflect that, so keep an eye out there 🙂
