Slack is great. But fairly expensive and now in the hands of SalesForce. Not sure which direction it will go. Discord is a great alternative, affordable and easier to integrate with partners and customers.
Have you got a server there yet? How do you like this platform? I used to think that Discord was something for gamers and streamers only, but then I got a job where everyone was using it to communicate, and I understood I was not right. It is one of the best communication platforms for me now, and I don’t know what to do without it. Our server is not very big, but we still use bots for Discord because they make the moderator’s job so much easier. They can also answer simple questions or clean the chat from spam or curse words if you would like them to.
Discord is a huge platform with >150 million MAUs. If you are into gaming or crypto, Discord is the leading network. I very much like it, as it’s extremely stable, multiple platform, and feature rich.
How are people handling linking HubSpot to Discord? I know Zapier has integration but I was looking at it and I am not sure how I'd relate one of my customer records to a Discord user for the purposes of putting them in a Discord Role based on HubSpot data. For example maybe only customers can actually send messages in Discord, but anyone else would only have read-only access. Has anyone solved this and if so how did you do it? It doesn't seem like on the Discord side that I can search for users by their email address. Would I have to maybe store Discord usernames in HubSpot for customers to be able to then manage their Role?
@JoshLevitsky Did you ever find a solution to this? We are looking for something very similar. We want the bot to check Hubspot and verify the user to assign the appropriate role based on a property value in Hubspot.
@jpc0480 Sorry no I haven't found a solution. I think it's possible for someone to build one or even HubSpot themselves because they could have a person authenticate to Discord to get the email address and then tie that to the HubSpot record and even then grant roles based on HubSpot fields, but I have yet to find someone who has this so my HubSpot and my Discord are a bit disconnected right now but since Discord is free for our customers the only real issue is not really knowing for sure who is in Discord and who is not. There are solutions like LaunchPass or MEE6 where they have a premium channels concept and that will give you the ability to have paid access, but you'd still not have that linked back to HubSpot as far as I can tell.
Please HubSpot team, an official integration would be nice. Or expand on the features of sending webhooks, by adding user-defined json objects that we can populate with ${Ticket-Owner} for example. That would also give us all the features, just like that, albeit with a little coding knowledge, and the user has to keep up with Discords message json objects format, (which actually didn't change that much in the last two years so its fine)
Hey folks, I'm working on a public Discord integration and so far I've got a custom "Send Discord message" workflow action that allows sending plain-text Discord messages from HubSpot workflows. There is a link you can use to connect the integration in this article: https://discord-for-hubspot.com/home.html
I'm eager for your feedback and I will use it to set the direction for the integration. There is a discord server linked in the article I mentioned above. Don't hesitate to join and share it.
P.S. The integration is free at this point but it will become paid later on if there is traction.
Update on 👆: I'm in the process of submitting the listing to the HubSpot Marketplace and the integration will be available soon. I've added a few new features. Check out the official website to understand what features are provided by the integration and feel free to install it: https://getdisco.net/. It has 7 day free trial.
Pretty late to this post but I've created exactly what you're looking for! There's a generous free trial if you'd like to check it out: conncord.com
What the HubSpot x Discord integration does:
Send discord messages via workflows
Add/remove roles from discord members via workflows
Send HubSpot reports to Discord channels and DMs (scheduled and one-time)
Import your Discord members into HubSpot as contacts
The app imports the members Discord ID, username and Discord email, and automatically matches them to existing contacts or creates a new contact if no matching contact exists
I'm working on getting the integration listed on the HubSpot marketplace, but the app is 100% functional and my users are quite happy 🎉
If you have any questions or feature requests I'm all ears! 🙂
