Inline editing in list view

It would be super-helpful if we could edit properties in the list views of Contacts, Companies and Target Accounts, instead of having to open the record, find the property, and then edit it.

The preview pane is helpful, but I often have property columns in the list views that aren't front and center in the preview pane, requiring me to click another button to find the properties. That's super-cumbersome when you need to edit multiple records - especially when each entry will be unique.

Hello everyone,

I'd like to thank you all again for taking the time to submit, vote and comment on this Idea. My name is Alexa, and I’m the Product Manager for HubSpot’s object lists view pages (ex. Contacts, Companies, Deals, etc.).

I'm happy to announce that this feature is currently in private beta! We will be moving to public beta shortly and then we plan to roll it out to all portals shortly thereafter.

We’ll be sure to update you here as this feature is Delivered.

Thanks so much,

Alexa

Couldn't agree more! Many other tools (e.g. NetSuite CRM) allow inline editing. Saves significant time, when usually you would open each contact/company/Deal at a time, before editing.

Is this this beta in HS?

Inline Editing for Index Pages

I've been using the beta since last week. It's an improvement, but still suffers from HubSpot's terrible UX/UI mistakes that they never seem to learn from.

  1. Keyboard navigation is quirky. You can press the up and down arrows to change rows, but it also scrolls the view so once you've moved up or down more then 3-4 rows, your current row scrolls off the screen.
  2. Despite the "inline editing", you still have to click the "Save" button at the bottom to save your edits. If you forget to do this, or you inadvertently click away, you will lose all of your edits on all rows. I don't know why HubSpot is so attached to having a "Save" button. Just update the data as we change it like every other modern SaaS product!
  3. The Save button is only accessible by mouse (no keyboard shortcut that I could find). Pressing the "enter" key enters edit mode on the highlighted field. Maybe assign CTRL-Enter as a shortcut for Save?

My favourite beta in a long time, thanks!

Please also add inline editing to associated objects in the association tables in the object overview.

We need this badly - any news on when Beta is completed?

Not only does this inline editing feature need what ChaosFreak and StanBartczak mentioned above, but it should be possibile to edit any field/property in the table in list view rather than a few.

Additionally, we should be able to create a new line in the list view and directly input a new company and contact in right there without having to add a new company and contact in seperate forms as that is a complete waste of time, especially when gathering information on new leads and/or when power dialling.

For example, I am prospecting on the interent to find 20 comapnies I want to call. While I'm prospecting, I enter the companies into an excel spreadsheet because it's quick and easy. Then I look for contacts using Linkedin Navigator. I find the CFOs for each company and add those into the same spreadsheet. Really, I'm gathering bare basic info, Company, website, phone and then Contact name,  email and phone (when possible). It would be nice to skip some steps and be able to enter this directly into the list view. Or perhaps create a new list view called leads where we can do exactly that.

This dovetails perfectly with the inline editing in list view and is the only reason holding me back from going with Hubspot.

Upvote - inline editing is critical for improving the end user experience when dealing with many entries, and wanting to make many quick edits in a single sitting.

The ability to edit properties just by clicking the property in the view (as opposed to selecting the record in the left-side check box and then going into the edit menu) is still not available. See this still open feature request explicitly asking for the ability to click on the property value to make an edit: https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/Edit-properties-directly-from-the-list-overview/idi-p...

Hi @Alexa_S

I am grateful for the ability to do this on the Object Index pages, but given the filters available here are inconsistent with the filters available in other areas of HubSpot, this isn't useful to me. I have been repeatedly finding myself needing to create a list to get the filters that I need, and THEN create a view on an Index page using the list membership as a filter.

I understand that your area is restricted to the Index Pages, so I will share my feedback for that side of things. The filters for Views need to be updated to be consistent with what is available across HubSpot, to prevent the need for customers to create additional assets.

I have users that are adding both the city name and state name in the city property. To clean this up, I attempted to create a view, where I knew I could easily edit the records without the need to open each one individually. The issue with this came when applying a filter. My options are "Contains Exactly," "Is Known" or "Is Equal to," none of which leave any room for variation. This is leaving me with no results, which is not accurate.

The filters in this area need to match the filters in other areas of HubSpot.

As of right now, the solution for this is to create a list with the correct filters and then create a view that references the list.... Why would I make extra assets instead of just having the appropriate filters available across all of HubSpot?

Additionally, there is a limit on the number of lists you can have in your account, but HubSpot is forcing the creation of unnecessary lists in order to do what I would consider to be pretty straightforward tasks. Updating the filters for Views would eliminate the need for unnecssary, extra lists and make completing a simple task much faster and easier, as it should have been in the first place.

I hope to see movement on this soon, as it is something that has been clearly lacking for a lot of years.

Thank you.

Hello,

Is it normal that some list views, such as Tasks, do not benefit from this feature ?

Could this (amazing) feature be generalized to all existing and future list views ?

That would be incredible.
