Increased deal revenue granularity

JGysin

At present, you can only record two revenue values against deals in HubSpot:

  • The total revenue
  • The monthly ‘recurring revenue’

The challenge for our business is that whilst some of our deals will be paid through one sole payment and some split between equal monthly payments (as the two points above would accomodate), some of our deals are broken into irregular payment patterns. For example:

Total deal value: £300k

January: £100k

February: £50k

March: £50k

April: £50k

May: £0

June: £0

July: £50k

Given that HubSpot only permits values entered against the two fields I bullet-pointed above, there is no way to accomodate this kind of payment structure within one deal.

The only options I have are the following:

  • Break the £300k into equal monthly payments and accept that our forecasting won't be accurate
  • Break the deal into separate deals in HubSpot e.g. Deal 1, Jan: £100l / Deal 2, Feb: £50k - given the length of most of our deals this option is so impractical that it is not even worth considering

Is there some way that the HubSpot development team could allow users to enter payment values by nominated month? This would add huge value to us as, because of this shortfall, we are having to use separate systems - this is causing some debate in our organisation about a move away from HubSpot.

Many thanks in advance!

Quaterone allows you do this type of revenue planning with a nice grid view to easily spread revenues.

They can also spread revenue automatically and handle line items.

Unfortunately they haven't yet leveraged Hbuspot CRM extensions to create cards and modal windows sales need to log in to their tool for complexe splits.

Also they have great reports but these are in their tools and not in the Hubspot dashboards.

Definitely critical idea since many companies are not, for example, SaaS companies with subscription plans. Many SalesOps are about irregular payment plants so it's important to record those on CRM to reflect them on dashboards or to sync to other systems.

Hey JGysin, i have a Saas business and i cant seem to find a way to even get even billing across the course of the 12 months?

If i am forecasting a deal to close tomorrow for a subscription client, their MRR is $66 (12 months $792) when i load this in it only records the $792 in the deal close month.

can you let me know how you split it out monthly without creating 12 different deals?

cheers

Yes, can we please do this? I would love to see the actual revenue coming in for each month and split it as a rolling 12 or a select the year month or whathaveyou. I know that we are also using stripe? Is there any way to view payments by the customer by month and have the payment dates show up?

We have exactly the same issue. We need to separate the revenue in monthly amounts but NOT 12 equal amounts.

Please provide a solution so we can just enter the monthly amounts for our reporting needs.

and NO creating 12 deals is not an option. This client is on a 5 years deal so I am willing to create 5 deals. NOT 60 deals... 🙂

Thank you!!

Hi, this is really a big issue on HubSpot. I would really like to see a solution for that.

Has this problem been solved in the last couple of years?
