Hello @ArnoVdW - thanks for your suggestion, I did already try the Office 365 add-in, but it gave up during install when it wasnt able to find an Office 365 hosted email account (as per my situation described in the OP). If I undestand correctly the Office 365 add-in does not support a non-Office 365 email host (see ringed in attached screengrab of features table) whereas the Outlook desktop add-in can support a non-Office 365 email host.
Also, having checked the features table again, it appears to me that the Outlook desktop add-in does not support connected inbox features eg email logging, so my request probably should be that the Office 365 add-in be improved to support any email host. I may be wrong as the line in the table in the screeengrab simply is "Connected Inbox required" which may mean something slightly diffent, but since I cant yet use either add-in I dont know. Maybe someone can clear this up for me?
Indeed, I would be very glad if this could be solved. At my company, we use Microsoft 365. But we don't use the Microsoft 365 accounts for mailing, so the mail account both in our Outlook as well as the ones registered with Hubspot do not match our Microsoft 365 accounts. It's thus impossible to activate the Hubspot add-in for Outlook on Mac.
This is really annoying and slows the entire team down. And frankly, I don't understand the technical necessity of matching the two accounts. The add-in for Outlook on Windows works with the same mix of accounts. So I am very sure it works without matching accounts. 🙂
But I have to say I am both amazed and disappointed we need to do this. I want to switch to mac, and before doing it just wanted to make sure I could easily continue to use the hubspot sales.
That request is 4 years old, I can even see some others from 2017. I saw that thread because one of your own employees suggested in another thread to upvote this.
I don't think your clients are asking you for something unrealistic or so difficult. As said by someone, mac users have 15% shares, but I wonder if it's not even more about people working in an field where hubspot can be useful.
Our company uses Gmail, but some users prefer Outlook for Mac. We have no solution for these individuals to track and log emails using an add-on/extension. Would really love to see this functionality improved. Thanks.
