Have a sequential deal number created each time a deal is created
This would essentially allow us to create a unique job number with each new deal. It would be so useful and would then be used as the root for a whole range of quotes and orders.
I really would like a sequential , human useable number to be generated with each new deal within a range of contexts i.e. across company or within a given pipeline etc.
I'd like to be able to set the seed number i.e. a 5 digit number starting 10000.
I'd definitely want the number to be available to add to the deal title when it is created.

I appreciate that is a real frustration @LinzThompson, but I guess that's the point of the Starter. HubSpot are good at what they do - including offering very good free/cheap solutions that are designed so that at some stage you will find a pain point so you upgrade.
If it's any consolation, you can create a private app with the starter version which has a webhooks option. You could then send a webhook to PowerAutomate (included in your Office 365 licence) which can then use the API to do something clever - like look up the next number from a spreadsheet and update a property in HubSpot. I've not done it as most of our clients are Pro/Ent but might be interesting to solve for this if there was enough demand.

The absence of this feature is incredibly frustrating. We are relying on our sales team refreshing the page then manually assigning a sequential deal number when creating a deal. Massively prone to human error.
That said, we've been using the paid add-on Sequential and it works very well. It's critical that we have automatic, sequential order numbers applied to each of our deals, and Sequential allows us to customize this number to the specific format we were using prior to HubSpot so there isn't a whole new process.
I am amazed that this idea was put up four years back and no action has been taken yet. This should have been something very basic to begin with! we are struggling big time as we have to assign an ID/Job Number manually every single time we create a deal.
This is very annoying, it took me a few months of negotiating to get us a CRM and now I have to explain to the management why it can not generate Job Numbers. I'm investigating other CRMs now. I don't want to upgrade to get a Workflow for Sequential to work.
Did anyone try the Sequential app from Unmatched? I've tried it and it's not working and they won't respond to my inquiry? I *think* I followed the instructions and the workflow shows Enrollment, but the # isn't generated. I used the prefix, so I'll see if removing that helps. Anyway, I need a feature like this.
Fully agree. There could be a new property like "Deal No." to record this. It will be evan better if we can have some freedom to define how the running number is generated, for example, with Country Code (like US, UK..) as prefix based on the country the customer or the sales team is.

SEQUENTIAL (UNMATCHED) APP ONLY £14 PER MONTH FOR 500 DEALS, FREE IF 20 OR LESS ETC.. THEY HELPED ME WITH A VERY SIMPLE WORKFLOW AND NUMBERS ARE CREATED AUTOMATICALLY - YOU CAN SPECIFY THE STARTING NUMBER SO THAT YOU RETAIN CONTINUITY.
This is still a common requirement from my HubSpot clients. I don't believe we should need Ops Hub or a Zapier integation in order to be able to implement a solution for client.
In Salesforce and other CRMs you can create a field which allows you to set a prefix and automated numbering for any object. I know we haver the REGEX function available now for properties, but the capability to define our own prefix and sequential (unique) numbering for any object is a must have, please!
Looking forward to an update since this is quite a long-standing Idea (and I see there are similar ideas listed here with similar needs).
This functional field NEEDS to be implemented. It is not rocket science. It should be a "Field Type" that can be chosen for Contacts, Deals, Companies, etc. Also, the ability to choose a start number would be great. Please update this soon.
