Forcing Sales Reps to go through Required Fields in Gmail

Sales reps are logging emails through Gmail sent to new contacts but are not filling in the required fields we have made mandatory when creating new contacts. So, we have a very large list of contacts created through the gmail integration whose name is an email... Can this loophole be fixed?  In other words, there should be a way to force reps to fill in the required fields in gmail when checking off the Log option and it is a new contact.

Not only just the name but the whole idea of making mandatory fields gets waste because of contacts being created due to the Integration loophole.


We're really struggling with this as well! We have to go in and spend time cleaning when these are required fields and the lack of information causes issues with our sync to Salesforce.
