With the new location formatting issues fix (which I love), it is impossible to bulk-update the suggested fixes with an extensive database of customers (350k+). Doing these fixes 50 at a time is not realistic. There needs to be a better way to do this within HubSpot without having to use an external tool.
Yes to this! Even having the ability to export records will help (correct them, then import new data) if the system can't support more than 50 records at a time.
Came to support this: we have around 400K "Fix Formatting Issues", and I cannot go through them 50 by 50. Going through them I see 2 options: spending extended time building workflows that can pick up the simpler ones, or just have an automation out of the box that simply fixes these issues. Or even just Bulk approve all.
Yes supremely frustrating. We get import errors every single time we import because things like timezone are empty; we don't use that property, it's never included in our imports, we shouldn't be getting errors every time for a property we're not using and that HubSpot automatically sets "based on other contact properties" in the first place. Either automatically set it, or allow me to accept the suggested changes in bulk. So ridiculous. Or give me control over what properties are inlcuded in the Data Quality tool in the first place and properties we're not using would stop being flagged as import errors to begin with.
Cannot agree more with this suggestion, seems silly this isn't an option. Even the limitation of only 50 records at a time is super annoying. I'm currently staring at 15K+ formatting issues which is requiring me to accept the recommendations 318 times. Crazy! I know that's nothing compared to some of the counts mentioned above, but incredibly frustrating as the service is great but I bucket this in the category of HubSpot releases I call "finish-ish". Hoping this can get corrected soon, at least before I finish this tedious project - thank you!
Like others - we got Marketing Ops hub... it touts its ability to do "Data Quality Automation"... it recognises hundreds of thousands of formatting issues... it KNOWS how to solve them ... but then limits you to solve 50 at a time and takes 10-15 seconds to be able to action the next batch.
It would take 20+ hours to do the 250,000 records - when it could be just 2-3 clicks.
We bought Marketing Ops to avoid having to buy a third party data cleaner or write a custom app.
If we need a third party to do such a basic function then it negates any need to renew Marketing Ops next time around as it will come with the rest of the features.
Agree - we do not use or care about the Timezone property, but now nearly every single contact in our database has a "formatting issue" because this value isn't set on the record. It's preventing what would be a fantastic tool in the formatting issues review for location fields from being at all useful. I need to either be able to select which fields I want to show up as an "issue" OR accept/reject them all in bulk.
100% agree on the bulk updates/deleting. I am staring at thousands of duplicates where I'd like the ability to clean up records in bulk.
I'm noticing other things that need to be adapted for best practice if the data hygiene rules are to be helpful.
For example - gmail users can add a "+ WORD" to their email to create trackable aliases. They have had this ability since 2008? so Jane.Doe@gmail.com can be entered as Jane.Doe+vendor@gmail.com to indicate you are using that email with a particular company and that's a valid email address. The data cleanup tool flags records with the + sign as invalid. I think we should be able to create our own rules after we review the data to accommodate these kinds of formats.
Same thing with people using an initial or initials as a first name. While I appreciate that many of us prefer to have the full first name, some customers prefer to use their initials. Flagging this as incorrect and not offering a way to override the rule is not helpful.
I also think that Title Case for Country field should be optional. The USPS requires capitalization for addresses if you do bulk mailing (getting CASS or PAVE certification discounts) ... so why should we be forced to use lowercase in address fields when they need to be upper case for other legitimate purposes. That said, I think it should be a choice, so we don't get a few hundred thousand records tagged as improperly formatted.
Completely Agree! Right now we are setting up workflows to automate changing some of the most frequent issues I see but it would be so helpful to be able to expand to more than 50! The feature works wonderfully but the pages being larger would be so helpful.
I spoke to our rep about data quality issues and the ops tools. He suggested using the Insycle tool (available in the marketplace) to handle bulk changes. I haven’t tried it yet, but the reviews are promising! I do think though that some of this functionality should be built into HubSpot as clean data is critical to getting accurate results from the system—it should be core to Ops.
I have an account with over 390K location fixes that need to be addressed 🫠... There should be a way to automate accepting format issue fixes based on specific criteria
