Field Dependencies for Contact Properties

I would like to set up field dependencies for Contact Properties, to ensure that my Sales/Marketing team are updating contact details correctly.

For example, I would only want certain fields to be editable against a contact record if another field against the contact had a certain value.

Thanks!

Steve

Hi folks,

We have received quite a few responses for this beta. To help us better collect a list of eligible beta participants, please complete the following Conditional Logic Beta Participant Eligibility Form .

Best,

Logic applied to objects for segmentation is definitely required. I have object categories for companies for my segmentation, of which I have 6 parent categories, and at the moment when completing these we have to see all subcategories rather than just choosing the ones that apply to the parent category.

Unfortunately, this beta and how it was designed isn’t super useful to us, as this only affects properties when the record is created. However, if we later update one of the dependent fields, it won’t prompt us to update the other one because they have both already been filled in.

Our use case for this was using it with the calendar date picker fields for “expected close date” and “Expected bill date”. Ideally, anytime one of these fields is updated, the other has to be updated too. Until that is available, the functionality here really isn’t useful to us, since we can already make the fields required upon record creation.

Oh, that’s such a bummer to hear. I was so hoping this would solve a major issue tracking Lost reasons and Sub-reasons. Our use case is, if you choose lost category "Product", then you also must choose a reason, for example missing feature, and if you choose feature, you'd be required to choose which feature. And, since you’re not losing on record creation, this feature sounds like a miss. I'm so sad!

For your date use case, could you have a default bill date of the close date? Or date +30? Does HubSpot support date formulas? I'm still transferring my SFDC knowledge little by painful little.

I applaud the effort but, unfortunately, this beta does not accomplish the goal my team has. Our need hinges on the status of a deal. We want to disallow our users from being able to close a deal as "won" unless they have completed the required fields we set for them. This is not possible from the creation form as deal closure comes much later after the deal has been created.

We need to be able to make the deal status "Closed- Won" conditional upon filling in other fields on the deal. So we need to be able to make fields required at any time, not just at the time of the creation of the record, in this case a deal.

very much in need of this logic right now
Our use case is: When you disqualify a lead, you should first see a category of general reasons, and based on your pick, you'll need to fill out which sub-reason is more accurate. Of course we dont want to show all sub-reasons right away, otherwise this would create too much confusion to our Sales Reps.

⚠️ UPDATE May 18, 2023: Thank you all for completing the application form! Registration for this study is now closed, as we have recruited the number of users needed for this study. We had a huge number of applications for a relatively small number of spots, and some specific internal criteria for who could take part. If you weren't able to help this round, please keep an eye out for future research studies!

Next, we'll conduct that research and use what we learn to build and adjust our proposed feature. Stay tuned for more updates!

Hi everyone! My name is Kyle and I’m a Product Designer at HubSpot. Good to meet you!

Some good news: after a really informative beta period, we're working on expanding on this new feature. With these new updates you'll be able to show and require properties related to a chosen option in another field, throughout the entire HubSpot CRM. To make this work, we're trying a more centralized location for managing this logic, which means some fairly big changes to how the feature works.

Based on what I’ve been reading here, I think this would solve many of your needs. But first, we have to test it to make sure it’s easy to use and understand. That’s where you come in.

Would any of you be interested in participating in a paid user research study, testing conditional logic settings? In order to ensure that this feature is effective and easy-to-use, we need to test it with you, our users. That will help us understand how well it works and meets your expectations.

Session details:
- Participants will be paid upon completion of the session
- Session will require no more than 60 minutes of your time.
- Session will consist of a recorded Zoom call where you’ll complete tasks using a prototype of this new feature
- You’ll be asked to provide honest feedback as you go

👉 Interested?  Please sign up using this Google form. If you qualify, we’ll email you to set up a time to talk. Registration for this research study is now closed. Stay tuned for more updates as we learn and build!

Once you’ve submitted the form:
If you qualify, you’ll receive an email within the next 48 hours with the subject, “Schedule a HubSpot UX Research Session”. Just pick a time and we'll do the rest. We’re looking forward to sharing this prototype with you and gathering your feedback.

Hi Team,

Do we have an ETA for this functionality? I have loads of use cases where these can be implemented and see a lot of value that this could bring to our Sales and Marketing teams.

Best,

Manasi
