There needs to be functionality in the HS system where later deal stages need to respect required properties in previous deal stages.
EXAMPLE
Let's imagine we have 4 deal stages:
Qualification
Negotiation
Contracting
Closed/won
In the Negotiation stage, the follow properties are required:
Currency
Deal Owner
In closed / won stage, the following properties are required:
Close date
Contract signed date
In the exact example, if I'm in deal stage qualification, and try to go directly to closed / won, HS will only require me to fill in close date and contract signed date. If I want the system to respectall required properties from previous stages I need to make sure that required properties from the previous deal stage, are ALSO entered as required properties in the next stage, and for larger orgnizations this is a nightmare to setup and maintain.
If there was a simple on/off switch that enabled something like "Should required deal stages be required progressively?" would solve this.
This is really necessary because currently you can manually see this up but when making small adjustments to the sales process, it takes a massive amount of work to implement changes.
This functionality already exists, assuming I've interpreted your needs correctly. For it to work you just need to configure the 'Update Stage Properties' in the deal pipeline settings. In this view you can set up deals so that users are prompted to fill in the same properties in multiple stages. If a value for the property already exists, they have the opportunity to update the property. If a value does not yet exist, they have to add one.
To use your example:
Negotiation: set currency and deal owner as required fields
Closed won/lost: set currency, deal owner, contracted signed date, and close date as required fields.
If a user starts in the qualification stage and progresses through all four stages, they will fill in currency and deal owner in the negotiation deal stage. When the deal reaches the closed stage, they're prompted to add a contract sign and close date. The fields they have already completed are listed as 'previously completed properties', which they can update if they choose.
If a user creates a deal in the Contracting stage and then goes straight to Closed won, they are prompted to fill in all four required fields as no data yet exists for them.
We in fact use this exact functionality to prompt users into updating the deal close date as deals progress through the pipeline. You can see how the close date property is included in multiple deal stages and what the user sees when they move a deal where the property has already been completed. in the screenshots below.
Hope this helps.
