Enable Modern Authentication for Microsoft Office 365
In 2019 Microsoft announced that sometime in 2021 they would be retiring Basic Authentication for legacy protocols (including but not limited to, SMTP, POP, IMAP, ActiveSync Basic, MAPI Basic). This was postponed during the height of the pandemic. It appears they are reactivating those efforts.
This will become a blocker for those of us currently using 0365 for imap integration unless Hubsport provides Modern Authentication as well.
Our use case is that:
Our company utilizes O365 for corporate email
Company policy does not permit marketing emails to be sent outbound from our corporate email server
We currently leverage a third party email marketing platform (Mailgun) for outbound email via SMTP
Inbound responses are forwarded from the provider to a Corporate mailbox
Hubspot currently connects to, and tracks responses, via Basic Authentication to O365
I'm not sure you read my full post. Our outbound email is bound to a non-exchange third party provider, per corporate policy. We are leveraging Exchange for inbound / responses only. Per your link:
"If you are an Exchange Online user and affected by this change, you can connect to HubSpot using our Outlook integration instead."
That will not work for us as Hubspot forces you to choose only a single integration in order to use modern authentication. Hubspot manual integration does not allow any integration other than IMAP.
Yes, we can configure our integration to fully utilize Exchange, but that does not work for our integration requirements.
