It would be helpful to have the option to lock a contacts default email.
We have a group of Cohort Directors (essentially they work for us as contractors) in the database and we have assigned each of them an email address tied to our company. It is the email address we need them to use when conducting company business, and is the one we will use to communicate company information. I have set their company email address as the default, but when they submit a form and use a personal email HubSpot re-sets their default. I've turned off the Pre-populate contact fields in hopes of making them think about which address they are using when they complete forms. Some do, some don't. I've also tried turning off the "Always create contact for new email address" setting, but worry that we will miss something down the line.
We do want to store additional email addresses for them, but don't want the default to ever reset from the company email.
YES! This is also causing issues with our API, as a single Hubspot contact may have several email addresses associated with different accounts in our app. Anytime our API runs, Hubspot either resets the primary to a different email address for the contact, or if I delete the email we don't want to use, they are re-created as a new contact.
The ability to be able to "lock" a primary email for a contact would be HUGE in helping ensure our data is correct. It's infuriating to have to do so much back-and-forth cleanup because of this.
