Early Exit in Workflows

I'm looking for a solution to exit people from an email nurture workflow before the end if they meet a certain criteria at any point in the workflow. I don't want to create a if/then branches all the way down the workflow if for instance they have scheduled a meeting or are now associated with an opportunity. 

The last marketing automation solution I worked with had this feature as "early exit" criteria rather than creating a bunch of if/then branches for the same thing.

I believe that the "goals" function in workflows allows for early exit, and likely serves the function you are looking for
