Currently, HubSpot users are unable to utilize the 'Device type' smart rules within the email builder. You can only add 'Device type' smart rules to landing pages and blogs.
As we work to optimize our email content this would be a nice tool to have. Our contacts are increasingly viewing our emails on their mobile device.
There is no workaround. I've worked with my developers and with HubSpot support for hours to try to find a workaround and even with custom HTML coding, nothing works 100% of the time.
Hubspot has a major shortcoming in not allowing smart rules by device type in email. It's absurd that this isn't allowed when dozens of other email services have the feature AND it works perfectly well for HubSpot pages and blogs but just isn't allowed for email - it's there but just grayed out and un-selectable. Why? Makes no sense.
Man we need this. Saas products in particular need this because many of them are browser-based desktop applications. During onboarding we send a lot of communication to our customers to encourage usage, but if they open the email on mobile, we want to send them to the help docs, while on desktop we'll drop them straight into the application.
Other platforms allow this, Customerio comes to mind.
