In many countries, Email IDs are not as prevalent as phone numbers. Many of the contacts don't have mail ids but phone numbers. Hence while importing 100s of contacts to hubspot, it's important to make sure no duplicate records with same phone numbers are uploaded. This feature is very much needed.
Adding to the request list. This is an important item for Sales team that are managing high inbound volume. Especially for international companies who are being contacted via phone, whatsapp, and online chat. Looking forward to having this solution available!
We're working through a solution now with a third-party vendor to create custom code. Our use case is that we have a text platform integration that creates contacts with only a phone number - the majority are already in our database and need to be merged with an existing contact.
Our biggest challenge thus far has been phone number formatting. Luckily our contacts are all US-based phone numbers but if you have any numbers that are in different countries this is a challenge as well. We're working on code that formats the phone numbers but it's been tricky to make everything match up exactly so that they'll merge since there are so many ways they can show up...with and without parenthesis, with and without country codes, with and without a + before country code, with and without spaces, etc.
This needs to happen ASAP! This is creating alot of issues for our sales team with customers entering multiple different forms with the same phone number but different email addresses which creates a new contact every time. This creates alot of frustration in our sales team. Please get on top of this issue asap Husbpot team!
Up voting. For a client we need this feature for managing inbound phone calls without cobbling third party apps to HubSpot for a feature like this. Please make this feature available.
We are currently also running into this issue, as our VOIP software was not logging things to the right contact when country codes were not filled in correctly, and it was creating new contacts.
Many of our clients tell us that email is a channel that is becoming obsolete as a follow-up channel for their prospects and clients. They comment that now, communication is through WhatsApp or phone calls. A large number of your potential clients, instead of sharing an email, prefer via WhatsApp or phone number, or simply they are only able to get phone number due their internal procces.
Because of this, they have several duplicate contacts related to their phone numbers and not their email addresses.
I came to this thread looking for a solution and I find it frustrating that this is something people and Partners have been asking about since 2019 and it still hasn't been implemented.
