Customise Global Search Results Settings, including Properties showing in columns, order, length

Currently, when using the Global Search Function, we cannot amend the default Global Search Results Settings to display properties in the Global Search Results View columns that are relevant to the specific business, and customise views to different teams/ team members in the business.

i.e. Global Search Results for Contacts only show default columns for Name, Email, Phone number, Primary company, and job title.

Global Search Results for Companies only show default columns for Company Name, Domain, City, Region, Phone and Company Owner.

Screenshot 2024-03-18 at 3.51.43 PM.png

Similarly, we are locked to default properties with Deals, and all other objects.

Goal

We are able to tailor the Global Search Results settings to meet the needs of different teams/users, much like the way we already can edit the object-specific search result views with the Contact/Company/Deal search tabs. This will enable us to:

- Choose properties to display in the Global Search Results view

- Choose order of columns that display

- Change length of column.

Different teams have different needs:

Use cases

Different properties/columns to display for different teams

- Service teams may find it more useful to see a customer code property/column in the Global Search Results View; while they can use the Global Search to find the correct company, they can't see on the screen they are clicking on the correct company, because we cannot bring in the <CUSTOMER CODE> company property to the results view.

- If searching companies, would be great for sales teams to see the primary contact in a column, and click directly onto this, rather than needing to click on the company record, to then search for the primary contact

- If searching tasks, would be great to see the internal task owner in a column, so you can easily see accountability.

Ability to edit length of columns

There may be several entities e.g. deals, companies, with nearly identical names, but a small variation right at the end of the deal/company name. So we can correctly read the name, we need to be able to edit the length of 1 particular column in the display screen. This means we don't have to click into the record/hover over each record, to read it. e.g. COMPANY NAME is likely to be longer than other properties, so we want the ability to make this column longer than others.

Hi all! I'm the new Product Manager on HubSpot Global Search (taking over for Nazz, who responded in this thread previously) and I'm happy to announce that we are ready to open this feature up to a Private Beta!

If you'd like to participate in the Beta for early access to the Customizable Search Results Display, you can send me an email (lsuleski@hubspot.com) and I'd be happy to help get you opted in.

Hey everyone following this idea 👋
Could you help me understand if you search by the fields you want to display or you want them to be displayed just for differentiating between the results?

Hey all. PM for Global Search here. We expected this ask after we launched the curated properties that you see on the Global Search results today and so glad that this ask has gotten so much attention. This is now in planning for us to start building and we are hoping to get it into your hands by Q4 2024.

Meanwhile, we would love to chat with anyone here who could share more about how you expect this to work and it impacts your own workflows. Feel free to DM your insights or your email id so that we can setup a few interviews.

Hi, we are currently having a hard time searching for leads/contacts because the fields displayed are not relevant to what we need.

We would need to add 'Lead Status' and 'Created Date.' For example, if I search for a John Connor, there could be hundreds of them, so the lead status and created date would help us quickly identify the correct one. These are vital features in any CRM, and since you're one of the best, I was surprised they aren't available. I'm not asking for it to be 100% customizable like in Salesforce, but at least being able to add those two fields would be extremely helpful

Customizing the search results would be great, as well as opening them in an actual view for further filtering. Here's my use case:

Global search allows me to gather contacts in whose notes I've mentionned a given project.

But I need to find the people at company XYZ in that list, so it would be super useful to be able to get the Global Search results, show the "Company" association that I want (I have labels :-D) and then filter on that.

My company is looking forward to this feature; would love to get in on a closed beta as soon as it is available. It will greatly improve our ability to look up companies quickly and make sure we are finding the right one by having the desired property listed as a result; right now it is searchable but does not actually show the property which the search collided with.

Hi everyone!

That option would be absolutely fantastic. The options we have now are not unsufficient. I'm missing something like that every time I use hubspot.,

We have multiple clients with the same name and the best way to differentiate them is on physical address, representative, DOB, etc. that are not loaded into the default settings.

We also urgently need a way to customize the properties shown in the global search.

We have Customer Numbers for Companies or for Contacts we have "Learner IDs" from other tools. Seeing the contact with the LMS ID helps the team so much finding the "main contact" so fast instead of searching for the right contact in the many duplicates.

We have some custom owner fields for one of our business units.  We would love to remove "Company Owner" from their view and replace it with the custom owner fields we created for them.  Seeing "Company Owner" is confusing to them since we don't use that field for their business unit.

Definitely a good "quality of life" feature to please add. Global setting per object is fine. Doesn't have to be fancy like assigning a search layout to a team (like page layout customizations). A CRM serves as a single source of truth so the easier you can make it for all a business' users to search and find relevant information, it really improves adoption and usage. Thank you for getting this one into planning : )

Looking forward to this feature.  We are constantly clicking on closed accounts that changed ownership or the wrong account when multiple location companies have the same name.  This enhancement could not come sooner.  If we could get one unique identifier of the company record to display and the lifecycle stage thats all we need.

Hello everyone & hubspot team!

Same here, there are some properties we dont use, and some others that are more critic to sales team; with this functionality  we would reduce the time entering to an object to check an specific property.

Thanks!

Super Admins should be able to set the defaults so our Users do not have to click the "More" button.  One use case for this is when we are retiring an object.  While it is deprecated, it should not appear as a selectable Global Search button.

The lack of this feature is currently impacting our business.

Dear @danielle423, see the note from the PM (Leah Suleski) of Feb 18, 2025 4:48 PM. We are currently trying this feature and are happy with it.
